According to recent reports, a Resident Evil 4 remake is in the works over at Capcom. The fourth entry into this franchise is highly beloved, and for good reason, and with the success of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, many horror fans are excited to see Leon back in this gen once more for a returning favorite. That being said, not everyone is enthused by this back to back trend while others are begging Capcom to put down Resident Evil for a little bit and confirm those long-awaited Dino Crisis remake rumors.
Resident Evil 4 was hailed for its incredible story of Leon Kennedy’s rescue of the president’s daughter. From crazy cultists to insane underwater enemies, the fourth entry was a true highlight in seeing where this series could go and while many are excited to see its return with this gen, others are saying that they are worried that Capcom is spending a little too much time in the past. That being said, others are ecstatic by the news, making the internet’s reactions to the latest report divisive but exciting:

You cannot remake Resident Evil 4 and capture what made the original amazing because it was a unicorn of a game that should’ve have been as good as it was. My take from my old RE4 video, pic.twitter.com/HgUbDmbaH2

Code Veronica is trending more from frustration of no remake treatment than any excitement of a Resident Evil 4 Remake lol
It and Dino Crisis will have to wait for another decade it seems pic.twitter.com/vwSuY0lAJM

Everyone’s acting upset about the Resident Evil 4 remake, but we all know that it’s gonna get 10/10 reviews and break the series sales record. 😏 #RE4 #RE4Remake pic.twitter.com/LQNSFjVE0k

As a huge fan of the fourth game, I was ecstatic to see this particular tag trend but it’s important to remember that no matter how assured VGC is with their initial report, nothing has been confirmed by Capcom at this time. Though our own sources have been saying for awhile now that Resident Evil 4 was under particular scrutiny regarding the next remake, it’s important to keep in mind that this is still – at the time this article was written – unconfirmed by the studio behind it.
That being said, a Dino Crisis remake has been rumored for years now and each time the rumor mill flares up, the excitement is instantaneous, which should prove to Capcom that this endeavor would be financially worth it. While our inside source says a Dino Crisis remake is absolutely still on the table, it is understandable why some fans would feel discouraged with so much back-to-back Resident Evil love.
What do you think about the Resident Evil 4 remake news? Excited to revisit such a classic or are you on the Code Veronica / Dino Crisis train? Sound off with your thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames, we’d love to hear what you think!
