Twitch has become one of the primary platforms for watching people play games. Whether you watch purely for entertainment, or you’re trying to learn from the best, Twitch is the place to go. With Twitch being such a prominent part of the gaming industry, many new games offer elements that, if not designed with Twitch in mind, work very well with Twitch streamers and viewers. Today we’re going to look at some of the games we expect to light fires on Twitch.
Detroit: Become Human
The upcoming title from Quantic Dream will be releases sometime during the first half of 2018 and should take Twitch audience participation to new levels. In the game the player must make certain decisions. There are dozens of decisions that must be made during almost every encounter in the game, and the decisions you make change how the story in the game plays out. Imagine a Twitch streamer asking their viewers which decision to make to create a custom story each time they stream the game. A similar experience happened with Until Dawn a couple years ago.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar doesn’t release very many games, but when they do, people pay attention. Grand Theft Auto 5 was first released back in 2013, yet it still remains one of the top games on Twitch to this day. While Red Dead Redemption isn’t quite the powerhouse that GTA is, we still expect streamers and viewers alike to flock to Red Dead Redemption 2 streams when the game releases sometime in 2018. The old west experience, coupled with the long wait for the sequel will have fans frothing at the mouth for more game time and stream time with RDR2.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
It’s rare to see fighting games topping the Twitch viewership charts unless there’s a tournament going on. However, Dragon Ball FighterZ is one of those rare gems that just might be able to break out of the general fighting game viewership mold. Dragon Ball is a huge property, and FighterZ is a game that both Dragon Ball and fighting game fans have been waiting for. A lot of Dragon Ball and general anime fans who have never played a fighting game, are eagerly anticipating FighterZ, while all that excitement has people who have never watched Dragon Ball or played a fighting game, interested in FighterZ. This rare combination will have a lot of people streaming and watching when the game releases on January 26.
Crackdown 3
Crackdown is arguably Microsoft’s biggest exclusive after the Halo series. The long-awaited and oft-delayed Crackdown 3 has fans bursting at the seams for more. The open-ended gameplay and crazy action of the Crackdown series make it ideal for Twitch streaming. The popularity of the series should see it in the top 10 Twitch games for at least the first week, with a good chance at hanging around longer, even if drops down to the top 20. Crackdown 3 is also a good title streamers can play with their viewers to get everyone in on the action when it releases during the first half of 2018.
