While the Nintendo Switch has become Nintendo’s focus over the past couple of years, the handheld market isn’t ready to give up just yet, and the Nintendo 3DS is still alive and strong. In fact, 2019 is shaping up to be an interesting year for the 3DS family of devices, and we’ve put together this assortment of some of the best Nintendo 3DS games that you’ll want to keep an eye on in 2019.
Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn
Originally released for the Wii, Kirby’s Epic Yarn will make its transition to Nintendo 3DS next year. There’s no official release date, but players can expect to enjoy the same great story from the original game, on top of some really nifty extras, including the ability to craft larger balls of yarn, summon new allies, and even take part in two new modes featuring characters like Meta Knight and King Dedede. If you didn’t play Kirby’s Epic Yarn when it originally released on the Wii, then 2019 is the perfect time to dive into this crafty adventure when it releases for the Nintendo 3DS.
Shovel Knight: King of Cards
Dive headfirst into the final campaign of the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove saga as you take on the role of King Knight in over 30 new courses set across 4 new worlds in the Shovel Knight world. Featuring more of the great metroidvania style platforming action that fans love about the series, Shovel Knight: King of Cards takes the Shovel Knight world and makes it bigger and grander than ever. It’s a title you won’t want to miss out on and being able to play it on-the-go means you’ll be able to enjoy the fun, frantic platforming anywhere you go.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr’s Journey
Step into a classic Mario & Luigi RPG as you navigate the insides of their archnemesis, Bowser, all while attempting to save the world and find a cure for Bowser’s disease. Along the way players will get to run into Bowser Jr as he strives to build up an army of ranged, melee and flying troops. It’s sure to be a whacky, fun-filled adventure full of laughs, intense battles, and classic action-RPG elements. Set to release in January of 2019, players won’t have long to wait until they can dive into this fun, action-packed RPG and explore the Mario & Luigi world once more from the comfort of their 3DS.
