2018 had a lot of fun and interesting games for players to dive into and as we head through the final weeks of 2018, it’s time to start looking forward to the year that’s ahead. In particular, we want to take a look at a few notable FPS games that players will want to add to their wish list in 2019.

Doom Eternal

Following the return of Doom as one of gaming’s most iconic FPS games, Doom Eternal acts as a direct sequel to the 2016 reboot of the Doom series. Not much is known about the plot of the game just yet, aside from the usual demon-hunting goodness that comes from Doom titles, but Bethesda and ID Software have revealed quite a few features about the game, including new demons, returning demons, and a slew of great weapons for players to use as they tear through the endless hordes of Hell.

There isn’t much known about this blend between fantasy and FPS, but based on the history of the studio behind it—it’s being developed by The Astronauts, a group of developers responsible for The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Bulletstorm and Painkiller—Witchfire is shaping up to be an FPS worth of a spot on your wish list. You can check out the trailer for the game, which shows off some of its enemies, as well its environments to get a taste of the dark story it has to weave. On top of looking really cool, the developers have also revealed that Witchfire’s story will be told through the environment. There won’t be any cutscenes for fans to follow, instead they’ll need to explore the world to unlock the lore hidden within it.

Metro Exodus

The Metro series has made quite a name for itself by providing a dark and compelling story within a hostile and dangerous world. Players will face off against mutants, other humans, and even hazardous areas full of radiation as they explore Moscow and continue Artyom’s story. Step out of the infested tunnels and into the daylight as Artyom and his people search for a new home in what is sure to be an exciting and intriguing adventure through post-apocalyptic Russia.

Halo Infinite

Nothing is known about Halo Infinite’s plot just yet, but Microsoft has revealed a gameplay engine demonstration showing off the new engine that they’ll be building Halo games off of in the future. As an added bonus, it’s also been revealed that the next installment in the Halo series will be making it’s return to PC via Windows 10, which means Halo fans have more reason than ever to celebrate the coming of the next chapter of the Master Chief’s story.

There are a lot of great games already on the calendar for 2019, and these are just a few that FPS lovers will want to keep their eyes on as we head into the New Year.
