5 Awesome Things to do in The Sims 4

Throw parties, start fights and even commit a murder or two.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

The Sims 4 will be enjoyed by a variety of gamers, and fittingly, there are a plethora of awesome activities to participate in. Some of these features are new, while some have been around (in one form or another) since The Sims originally released. Whether you’ve taken the entire journey through the four game franchise or plan to begin fresh with the fourth iteration, here are five things you must try in The Sims 4.

Throw a Party

Let’s start small. Throwing a party in The Sims 4 is a lot of fun. There will be music, food and a whole lot of socializing, and as per usual, someone will have too much goofy juice and make a fool of themselves. Whether it’s passing out face down on the porch or two Sims fighting over another, the entertainment will not be limited to a neighbor’s mediocre piano skills. If you’re really lucky, some random Sim will die and the Grim Reaper will show up. Believe it or not, Sims dying is pretty entertaining, and the Grim Reaper now comes with a Slablet.

Start a Fight

Should there be any justice in the world of video games, the fight we’re going to show you how to get into will take place at the above mentioned party, but even if there aren’t any witnesses, fisticuffs in this game are awesome.

If you really want to lay the smack down on the overly friendly Sim that keeps kissing your partner’s hands while you’re at work, invite them over and start throwing the mean interactions at them. To do this, click on them and look for the additional options, then choose from the mean category. Just keep tossing insults at them until you get the option to throw a drink in their face. That’s the equivalent to slapping them with a glove to challenge them to a duel. Once you’ve done that, head back into the same menu and look for the option to fight, then sit back and watch the greatest digital street fight in the history of hand to hand combat. You’re welcome.

Kill Another Sim

So your fight didn’t really solve anything, and now you’re walking around dazed from all those slaps in the mouth. Well, we’re always here to pick you up when you’re down, and we’re determined to make sure your enemy pays the price. Plus this method of killing Sims is hilarious.

If you really want to get rid of a problematic neighbor (or member of your household), lure them out into your yard, then quickly walk away so they’re standing alone. Enter into Build Mode, then construct a fence around them. The jerk-face who was all over your partner will be stuck inside the fence. It might take a couple of days and there’s a good chance they are going to pee on your lawn, but eventually they’ll kick the bucket. Then all that’s left to do is delete the fence… and the tombstone.

Visit the Secret Areas

There are two secret areas to find in The Sims 4 (that we know of), one in Willow Creek and another in Oasis Springs. Named Sylvan Glades and the Forgotten Grotto, these areas are filled with lots of rare collectibles that will undoubtedly spice up your game. Whether it’s rare frogs, fish or even spices, visiting these secret spaces is an absolute must. The problem most people are going to have, however, is that they are really hard to find if you don’t know where to look. Luckily for you, we’ve already covered that in an article about How to Unlock the Sylvan Glades and Forgotten Grotto Secret Areas.

Build a Mansion

It may not be the craziest suggestion for awesome things to do, but the bread and butter of any Sims game is building yourself a mansion that would make Oprah weep with envy. If you really want to go all out, you’ll probably want to Use the Money Cheat, but there is simply nothing better than building the house of your dreams with an infinite budget. In fact, the actual process of designing, building and furnishing this wonder of the world is probably going to be more fun than living in it. When you’re all done, why not upload it to the Gallery for everyone to enjoy? Or keep it to yourself. That’s an option too.
