Now you can play tabletop games on your tabletop with a device on said tabletop without ever actually having to touch your tabletop. With us so far? Cool. Bethesda made the “how many times are they going to release Skyrim” joke reach its full potential by porting a lite version of the game over to the Amazon Alexa smart device. Now Skyrim will be joined by other adventures because this home electronic can now play select board games.
The board game skill was recently added and will continue to grow over the coming years. That being said, Ticket to Ride and Ticket to Ride Europe are now available to play. There’s one catch though. Players will need to have the actual physical copy of the board game in order to play, though Alexa will have the rules and setup all mapped out in its interface.
According to Polygon, the Alexa version of the game does change a little bit given that the device will have different card odds from the overall deck. The game itself also won’t be pausable, so make sure to get keep those chicken tendies and choccy milk at the ready.
With the Skyrim Alexa skill being surprisingly fun and the device interfacing with other games like Assassin’s Creed and Destiny, the sky really is the limit for what Amazon can do with this particular verticle. From tips and tricks for the hottest games out there, to a lite version of single-player adventures for all to enjoy – the potential is real and something I’m admittedly a little too excited to see.
