Friday is here once again, meaning it’s End of the Week recap time here at Prima Games! For those unfamiliar with our End of the Week recaps, they’re a feature we publish every Friday as a way to help readers navigate through all of the content posted to the site during the week.

No excess scrolling or searching required. We also have a Staff Chat section at the bottom of our recap where you can get to know the Prima Games team a bit better. And if you use Twitch, we regularly do a Twitch livestream on Fridays starting at 5:30 p.m. (EST) to 6:30 p.m. (EST) over on twitch.tv/primagames.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s jump in and take a look at all of the content posted to Prima Games during the week of September 20 through September 24!

What did you think of this week’s Nintendo Direct, and what was your favorite announcement?

It was absolutely unhinged. Just some of the wildest, out of nowhere news I've seen in one of these things. Square Enix in particular had huge swerves, which I'm not used to seeing from that company.

What do you think of the voice actors cast for the Super Mario animated movie?

Chris Pratt sucks. That's it really. Key as Toad rules.

Thoughts on the newly announced Kirby game?

Looks interesting! A big, fully 3D Kirby game like that has never happened before, but I still remember the cancelled Gamecube game. So this'll be a big first for Kirby and that's exciting.

How do you feel about Apple playing hardball by keeping Fortnite blacklisted for up to the next 5 years?

Petty corporate drama sure is something. It seems really stupid to make such a move after being dinged for anti-competitive practices, but if nothing else we've learned from the proceedings here that companies don't give a crap about legality until they're scolded by a judge.

Favorite piece(s) on the site this week?

I always have a great time putting together our collab articles, if only because I get the chance to make myself chuckle making the header images.

Playing any fun games this weekend?

I'm gonna see how much I can push forward in Final Fantasy XIV as usual, plus a few games that will be exiting embargo next week!

Do you have any movie, TV, anime, or music recommendations that you’ve been enjoying and would like to share?

I need to do a better job having something prepared for this section, but alas. I always plan to watch anime or a movie and then fail miserably. Love my brain for that.

Bonus question, what’s your favorite video game related movie or TV show?

Oooooo oh boy, I love this topic. I'm into most of these for all kinds of reasons, but I think the ones I can more earnestly cape for are the live action Tekken, and Dragon Quest: Your Story.

Now hear me out; Tekken isn't an amazing adaptation of what Tekken actually is, but I don't know why anyone would actually want that.

What it is, though, is a dope martial arts movie that really leans on the cast using different styles. It's like a super nerdy derivative of Bloodsport. The Dragon Quest movie is just really sweet and adorable, especially if you've been a fan for a long time.

What did you think of this week’s Nintendo Direct, and what was your favorite announcement?

I think it was solid. A lot of really good things on the horizon for Nintendo to be excited about. Obviously, my favorite announcement was the new Monster hunter rise expansion Sunbreak. I just wish it wasn't so far away!

What do you think of the voice actors cast for the Super Mario animated movie?

It's bad, like laughably bad. I think most people were shocked to see. I guess Jack Black isn't a bad choice, but the rest of the cast is like...what?

Thoughts on the newly announced Kirby game?

It looks awesome! I enjoy most of the Kirby games that come out, but I'm glad to see them going all-in on a 3D adventure game!

How do you feel about Apple playing hardball by keeping Fortnite blacklisted for up to the next 5 years?

Corporations are going to be corporations ya know? Like, Fortnite has already been off of Apple stuff for like three seasons at this point so anyone who is playing Fortnite still hasn't been playing on Apple devices for a long time already.

Favorite piece(s) on the site this week?

Idk if I have a favorite piece this week, but I will say that overall we put out so much news this week and y'all should read all of it! Also leave a comment because you can do that now!

Playing any fun games this weekend?

I've been playing Tales of Arise in my free time as a "me" game. It's been nice to just relax with a game that isn't for immediate coverage and I'll probably play a bunch more this weekend.

Do you have any movie, TV, anime, or music recommendations that you’ve been enjoying and would like to share?

I started watching Only Murders in The Building last night and it's really good! If you have Hulu I highly recommend it for the cast alone.

Bonus question, what’s your favorite video game related movie or TV show?

Honestly, Detective Pikachu is pretty high up there. i really loved seeing all my favorite Pokemon brought to life in such a fun way.

What did you think of this week’s Nintendo Direct, and what was your favorite announcement?

I thought it was pretty fun, not my favorite Direct but there was some awesome stuff shown. I think my favorite announcement outside of seeing Bayonetta 3 gameplay was Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I'm stoked it's releasing Spring 2022, just in time for my son's birthday!

What do you think of the voice actors cast for the Super Mario animated movie?

It's mostly awful with a few good (or at least not nightmarishly dreadful) casting choices here and there. And if you want my honest, somewhat spicy opinion, I think the movie is going to be absolutely effing terrible. Just the worst thing you've ever seen in your life next to the live action Cats movie.

Thoughts on the newly announced Kirby game?

I'm stoked, it's creative, it's colorful, it looks like a blast to play.

How do you feel about Apple playing hardball by keeping Fortnite blacklisted for up to the next 5 years?

I don't like either company, they're both greedy and shady. With that being said, I do think Apple is being a little petty here. At this point it'd be so much easier to just let things go and move on.

Favorite piece(s) on the site this week?

Our group Nintendo Direct collab feature for sure.

Playing any fun games this weekend?

Possibly, but mostly my plans are to get outside and get some sunlight as it's been reallly helpful with my depression.

Do you have any movie, TV, anime, or music recommendations that you’ve been enjoying and would like to share?

One of my favorite guitar players Mark Tremonti released a new solo album that's out today called Marching In Time and is absolutely amazing. On YouTube there's a playlist with the full album, though you can also find it on places like Spotify. If you like rock music and you like guitar solos you'll like this album, trust me.

Bonus question, what’s your favorite video game related movie or TV show?

I actually liked the first Silent Hill and Resident Evil movies from a movie and nostalgia standpoint, rather than film accuracy. They're good entertainment. I also adored Detective Pikachu, and think Castlevania and The Witcher on Netflix are pretty darn good and well worth checking out.
