Everything you might’ve missed this week in the world of gaming, along with our thoughts on some of this week’s biggest news.

We missed a week but we’re back at it again with a fresh End of the Week recap for you. If you’re unfamiliar with our End of the Week recap articles, they’re essentially an “in case you missed it” resource full of some of our most interesting articles of the week.

The recap also includes thoughts from Prima Staff on big events that took place during the week, or upcoming events that we’re really looking forward to. For example, we shared our thoughts on the PS5 dissection video in our last End of the Week recap as we inch closer and closer to the big next-gen console release week.

This week, we’ve been conserving matches in Amnesia: Rebirth, sharing updates on some upcoming spooky games, and dropping review after review after review!

The release of next-gen consoles is three short weeks away, how are you feeling?

On one hand, I’m annoyed with how all the information has trickled out. On the other hand, the weird lack of details even now means discovering the consoles will have a bit more novelty to it.

I’m also glad they aren’t as expensive as I thought they would be since I don’t have a ton of choice but to buy both for my work.

What’s the scariest game you’ve ever played?

Honestly I’m going to have to go with Corpse Party for the PSP. I’m a horror veteran and am not easily scared by games. But Corpse Party does its thing in ways other horror games haven’t.

It uses audio and text, often with a black screen, to affect the player rather than throwing spooky monsters in their face. Some of the more anime trope-y content in the game could be… questionable, but the scenes meant to scare were sensory attacks that used your imagination against you.

If you had to, what video game character would you dress up as for Halloween?

Listen, I got drunk and played Twister at the MAGfest hotel gazebo with strangers while wearing a King Mickey Organization XIII robe. And I won, too. “Had to” does not apply.

What are you playing this weekend?

I’m gonna slice up some more zombies in OneeChanbara Origin for a review next week, and see if I’ll ever be able to roll credits in Assassin’s Creed Origins. It’s cliche subtitle week at the White household, baby.

What are you watching this weekend?

My Wife and I have been running alphabetical movie nights. Last night it was my turn with grungy JCVD prison flick “In Hell.” Next up is Jennifer’s Body, so hopefully we can fit that in this weekend.

Doing anything else interesting or exciting this weekend?

I have a mysterious package coming in via FedEx that’s probably work-related, so hopefully whatever that is will be cool.

The release of next-gen consoles is three short weeks away, how are you feeling?

Lowkey had a dream last night that I received a PlayStation 5 early and was upset when I woke up and it wasn’t true. So I guess you could see I’m finally feeling excited about these boxes. Maybe I’ll dream about the Xbox tonight, who knows. I just wanna play Bugsnax.

What’s the scariest game you’ve ever played?

Hmm, I don’t play too many scary games, but I have a very vivid image of playing the original Resident Evil when I was a kid and it gave me nightmares for like a month. Despite being terrified I still finished it (with help from my dad)

If you had to, what video game character would you dress up as for Halloween?

If I was insanely ripped I would love to be daddy Kratos, but realistically dressing up as Pyramid Head would be pretty rad.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

It was a fun week, as most weeks here are. I always love collaboration pieces so getting to talk about Xbox Backwards compatibility games with the crew was fun (even if we all wanted to pick Silent Hill 2).

What are you playing this weekend?

I’m going to dive into the Pokemon Crown Tundra DLC and maybe some Disc Room.

What are you watching this weekend?

Not too much time to watch anything this week so probably nothing.

Doing anything else interesting or exciting this weekend?

I’m going home to see my parents this weekend, who I haven’t seen since before the summer. It should be a fun weekend.

The release of next-gen consoles is three short weeks away, how are you feeling?

The way I’m always feeling, anxious. On a serious note, I am looking forward to seeing the initial sales performance for each console, and how each one holds up in side-by-side comparisons.

I think each console has a number of fun games that can be played on them at launch, and I’m equally as excited to dig into those games. The only real concern is finding the time to get to everything, and making sure I don’t miss anything.

What’s the scariest game you’ve ever played?

That’s a difficult question, I’m a huge fan of horror games but I don’t really get scared by them much anymore. I want to say PT because it is by far one of the scariest game experiences ever made, but it also isn’t something that you can really play anymore. I’d rather talk about something you can buy and play right now if you want to.

So, if I had to pick one based on that, I guess I’d say Outlast. The first time I played that game, I was impressed by the way it manages to keep you stressed out from start to finish. It made me have to pause and take a break a number of times because it hit so hard. If you’ve never played Outlast, have never seen anyone else play it, and want to be scared this Halloween I highly recommend it.

If you had to, what video game character would you dress up as for Halloween?

If I had a dash more confidence I might say Kitana from Mortal Kombat, but I’m a shy bean so I’ll go with Ashe from Overwatch or Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn. I also like the idea of dressing up as Alucard from Castlevania or Doomguy from Doom.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

I really like the piece from Lucas talking about turning frustration into fear in Amnesia: Rebirth, the group feature where we talk about backwards compatible games on Xbox Series X|S, and Jesse’s news post about Darkest Dungeon 2. Very excited for that game.

What are you playing this weekend?

I’m looking forward to checking out The Red Lantern on Nintendo Switch.

What are you watching this weekend?

I’m planning to check out a new kdrama called Tale of the Nine Tailed. Yes, I’m one of those people, I love watching kdrama. I highly recommend Goblin, It’s Ok To Not Be Ok, Korean Odyssey, My Country: The New Age, Kingdom, and Hwarang if you’re looking to dabble with kdrama.

Doing anything else interesting or exciting this weekend?

Probably not, I’m just going to relax and have fun doing nothing.
