With the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, many people have been wondering about cross platform play. It’s not uncommon for games to have cross platform play, especially in the modern age of online gaming. Since we’ve had so many people wondering, is Dragon Ball FighterZ cross platform, we’ve decided it was about time to delve into the subject. This article covers if Dragon Ball FighterZ offers cross platform play and what the future may hold.
Cross Platform Play
The quick and dirty answer is that Dragon Ball FighterZ does not offer any kind of cross platform play. If you have the PlayStation 4 version of the game, you won’t be able to play with someone who has the PC version of the game, and that goes for all other versions of the title. Sony’s current stance on cross platform play does not allow this to happen unless it’s strictly PS4 to PC. While that may change in the future, and games such as Rocket League are working toward that goal, we’re not quite there yet.
In the Future
While it’s extremely unlikely we’ll see a patch that allows from cross platform play in Dragon Ball FighterZ, there’s always a chance we’ll see cross platform play in a potential sequel. While no sequel has been announced yet and we still have at least one full season of DLC to get through before any sequel plans would be announced, that’s the only way people will see cross platform play.
Unless Sony’s stance changes on the matter, the best you would see is PC and Xbox One or PC and PS4 cross play. At the moment there’s no chance that a new game will allow for PS4 to Xbox One cross play. However, there’s no telling what the future holds or if Sony will take a different stance on the subject in the future.
