How to Get the Catch in Genshin Impact

It doesn’t quite look like a fishing pole, but it’ll do

Bet you new players of Genshin Impact wouldn’t have guessed that there are plenty of free weapons available in the world other than the craftables. For example, the most prominent of these is the fishing stylized weapons you can in through the Fishing Association. And while they don’t require much fandangling to get like some of the other weapons, such as the weapons that become available in Sumeru. For now, here’s how you go about discovering and trading in the first of these fishy weapons, “The Catch.”

Where to go and Who You Need to Talk to

“The Catch” is a stylish fish-inspired polearm that can only be obtained through trading with a member of the Fishing Association in Inazuma. Taking one of the waypoints just on the outside of Inazuma city, you can head down southwest to the beach where you’ll discover a woman who will get you started on your fishing journey. Once you complete her mission of finding all of the members of the Fishing Association, you can begin catching fish at the designated spots littered around Teyvat.

You’ll notice upon talking with Kujirai Momiji again, that there’s an option to shop with her. You can get fishing bait as well as a Stabilizer that will make it easier to fish. You can also get different types of fishing poles that are unique to their region, but it will also help to nab these because they increase your ability to catch fish if used in the correct region. Along with these things are “The Catch” as well as its refinement materials, Ako’s Sake Vessel. There are four refinement materials to purchase so that you are able to increase “The Catch” to max refinement for even greater stats on its passive.

However, you can’t simply pay for these items in Mora as you would at many other shops. Instead, you have to catch certain types of fish and trade them to Kujirai Momiji in exchange for the items. These aren’t too difficult to catch, but with the respawn rate of some of the fish, it may take you a little while.

What You’ll Need to Catch for “The Catch” and Ako’s Sake Vessel

You’ll only need to purchase “The Catch” once, so it’s fairly easy within a week or so, maybe less if you have friends who will let you fish in their worlds. One of the tricky items to get, however, is the Raimei Angelfish. This fish is only available at one spot in Inazuma and respawns much slower than the other ponds. Luckily, you won’t need too many of them like you will with the Koi. The Koi are much easier to find in Inazuma and appear in multiple spots, but because this is for a weapon, you’re going to need lots of them.

  • 6 Raimei Angelfish
  • 20 Golden Koi
  • 20 Rusty Koi

For Ako’s Sake Vessel, you’ll need fewer supplies for each. But, because you can refine the weapon up to four times, you’ll equally need four times the amount of fish required for one trade. Once again, you’ll need the Raimei Angelfish, so the refinement material may take you much longer than achieving the weapon will. Along with it, you’ll need both types of Pufferfish which can be found in various spots around Inazuma, and far fewer for each trade.

Each:

  • 3 Raimei Angelfish
  • 10 Pufferfish
  • 10 Bitter Pufferfish

Total:

  • 12 Raimei Angelfish
  • 40 Pufferfish
  • 40 Bitter Pufferfish

Spots to go to For These Fish

The most important of these fish is going to be the Raimei Angelfish which can only be found in one place, the destroyed wreckage out at sea, just south of the Kujou Encampment on Kannazuka island. Taking a Waverider there, you should be able to catch a few fish to get you started with the polearm, at least. It’ll take a few more runs before you’re able to collect enough for all of the refinement materials though.

The next few areas you’re going to want to hunt for the Koi fish are going to be in one spot as well, but respawn practically daily so you’ll have an easier chance of gathering all of these. On Seirei Island, there are two fishing spots that are fairly close together, however, the one on the western coast is the fishing spot that will spawn Koi.

The eastern coast will spawn Pufferfish though and will save you a trip by going to Seirei daily in order to collect all of the extra fish you’ll need while you wait for the Raimei to respawn. Other places where you can find the Pufferfish are at the port of Ritou and near the ship wreckage in between Kannazuka and Yashiori Island. They are a lot more populous throughout this region so you should be able to catch them at a faster rate than the Koi.

Hope this article help and happy fishing!
