All Potion Recipes in Thymesia

Better living through alchemy - a guide to Thymesia's 8 potion recipes.

Following in the tradition of its Soulsborne predecessors, the new Soulslike action RPG from Overborder Games for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Thymesia, does not hold its players’ hands when explaining the game’s facets, opting to challenge them to discover some of its features and mechanics on their own. There is no better example of this than in the mystery of Thymesia’s potion recipes. While the player character, Corvus, will attain three potions types during the course of natural story progression through defeating the main story bosses, Thymesia never completely explains what to do with the twelve ingredients (basil, black pepper, cinnamon, clove, fennel, garlic, lavender, mint, oregano, rosemary, sage, and thyme) that are strewn about Hermes’ various locations or dropped by some of its plague-stricken denizens. This guide will demonstrate how to craft potions, present the exact formulas for the game’s eight recipes, and elucidate what buffs each recipe provides.

How to Craft Potions

Ultimately, the solution to the potion conundrum is to unlock the three Ingredient Slots for either the General Potion, the Long-lasting Potion, and/or the Fast-acting Potion by using the Alchemy Enhancers found on elite enemies or through farming bosses.

Unlocking Ingredient Slots gives Corvus the ability to “Craft Potions” which adds herbs to the three aforementioned potions. Each ingredient has an individual, unique buff depending on what herb is used, as there are four categories: Life, Energy, Toughness, and Strength. However, potion recipes are created when three specific ingredients are combined, which coalesce to give Corvus a superior, singular buff instead of three mini effects. Recipes can be highly advantageous in helping Corvus survive the many dangers that lurk behind every corner in Hermes through improving his health, energy, damage output, memory shard gains, etc.

There are two methods for finding the eight potion recipes in Thymesia. The first way is through reading a few of Thyemia’s 94 findable “story bits” that are spread throughout its campaign and side quests. Some of these potion-related documents are mini puzzles that present partial formulas, or a narrowed ingredients list that the player must decipher for themselves to create recipes.

The other method for finding the eight potion recipes is through player experimentation, as each potion can be discovered through trial and error by mixing and matching the game’s various herbs. However, rather than having to look through every story document, or spending hours testing out herb combinations, this article will disclose the eight hidden potion recipes found in Thymesia.
