In a strange turn of events, it looks like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is now releasing sooner than originally planned. The game, which was first set to release in September 2022 is now slated for July 29 of this year.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Release Date Now Sooner Than Expected
This news comes directly for the Nintendo of America Twitter account which tweeted out the new date and trailer.
The new trailer shows off some story beats, and a glimpse of some gameplay features, which showcases the battle system. While some elements will be very familiar to those who have played the series before, one huge new feature is built around your party members fusing together to create powerful machine like creatures.
Depending on which characters are melded together the results of the entity are different. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had the Blade and Driver system, while Xenoblade 3 seems to be ditching that for this new mechanic instead.
The rest of the trailer puts the cast front and center, giving players a sense of the story, villains, and problems they will have to overcome during the course of the game.
The official Nintendo eShop description gives us a little more information.
“Players will step into the roles of protagonists Noah and Mio amid turmoil between the hostile nations of Keves and Agnus. Six characters hailing from those nations will take part in a grand tale with “life” as its central theme. Explore a new world that will connect the futures of both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, launching for Nintendo Switch in September 2022.”
Alongside this information, a new Special Edition for the game was revealed. It features the game with a Steelbook cover and art book. It will be sold exclusively on the My Nintendo Store in North America. You’ll need to keep an eye out on the Nintendo Twitter account for more information about it.
