Best Games To Play On Halloween Night
Luigi’s Mansion
Did you really think I wasn’t going to start this list with the best Halloween vibe around? Luigis Mansion, originally released on the Gamecube back in 2001 is an easy recommendation for families or anyone looking for a good time with some ghosts. It’s haunted, filled with ghosts, and offers a pretty good sense of exploration for anyone brave enough to walk the halls of the mansion.
If you don’t have a Gamecube laying around, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is on the Nintendo Switch and offers a co-op mode if you’re looking to play with a partner or child. It’s also an excellent recommendation and you can’t go wrong with any of the games in the series.
Dead By Daylight
If you’re looking for a multiplayer game to play with friends, Dead By Daylight is a great way to get your classic horror fix. The 1v4 survival game lets you play so many iconic characters across staple horror franchises. Maybe you want to be Leatherface chasing people with a chainsaw, or perhaps Michael Myers from Halloween? There’s really no shortage of great horror baked into the DNA of Dead By Daylight and is a great way to experience the vibes with some friends on Halloween night.
Inscryption
Released just a few weeks ago, Inscription is a card-based deck builder that has serious horror vibes. It’s half deck builder half point and click adventure game. Did I also mention you are trapped in a cabin with a creature that is trying to kill you and turn you into a card?
It’s not outright scary, but it’s so unsettling and uncomfortable at times that it makes for a great playthrough on Halloween night. The less you know about it, the better off you are.
The Dark Picture Anthology
Supermassive Games have been releasing a new narrative adventure game every year under The Dark Pictures Anthology. Each game is its own self-contained story running around 4 hours each. The team just released House of Ashes last week and it’s a solid scary game set in the caverns below Iraq where monsters are plentiful and Ashley Tisdale is a soldier. IF that doesn’t strike your pallet there is also Man of Medan, which features a group of young adults trapped on an abandoned ship filled with creepy monsters and paranoia.
There is also Little Hope, which was released last year and stars Will Poulter. This one follows students after a horrific bus crash, leading them into a small town with a low of mystery and intrigue.
The game also has a movie night mode where you can pass the controller around with your friends so everyone gets to control a character!
Costume Quest
Costume Quest is an easy recommendation for anyone, especially on Halloween. It takes you on an adventure as children trick-or-treating around different parts of their town. The game is a turn-based RPG where during battle, you turn into the costumes you are wearing and gain abilities that reflect those costumes. It’s great for parents, children, and everything in-between. Go trick-or-treating in the game, complete quests, and enjoy the vibes.
Back 4 Blood
The recently released Back 4 Blood is the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead is a great way to spend your Halloween night. If you’re looking for a good time by yourself or with friends Back 4 Blood can offer that. Kill the Ridden and work your way through a ton of different levels all way trying your best to stay alive.
Back 4 Blood can offer you high-stakes action and survival or can be an easy romp with a few friends while you hang out and have some fun.
It’s on Xbox Game Pass currently if you need help convincing your friends to play, that’s a pretty easy way to do so.
