Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 | Where to Get Nuts and Bolts

Crafting looks a little different this Season.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 is here, bringing with it changes to aspects of the game like crafting. You no longer have to scavenge for crafting materials like animal bones and mechanical parts, though you will need to pick up one specific crafting material if you want to alter the weapons you have in your inventory.

That’s right, Season 7 isn’t about crafting upgrades so much as it is about crafting and converting a weapon in your inventory into a previously vaulted weapon. If you’re confused on how to get the game’s newest crafting material, nuts and bolts, we’ve got you covered with a quick guide explaining where to get nuts and bolts in Fortnite Season 7!

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 | Where to Get Nuts and Bolts

The first question many Fortnite players have is where to get the game’s newest crafting material, nuts and bolts. During Season 6, crafting materials could be obtained by harvesting them from sources like animals including boar and wolves for animal bones, and vehicles for mechanical parts.

This isn’t the case during Season 7. Instead, you’ll be happy to hear you won’t have to do as much “harvesting” to get nuts and bolts in Fortnite. To get nuts and bolts, all you need to do is keep on the lookout for red toolboxes.

By finding and interacting with these red toolboxes, you’ll be able to acquire nuts and bolts. You can find red toolboxes at most named locations in Fortnite, and at high tech IO Guard Facilities scattered throughout the Season 7 map.

Yes, IO Guards are back and will shoot at you so if you’re planning to raid one of their facilities, make sure you come prepared! Also note you can pick up nuts and bolts if you eliminate an opponent and they have nuts and bolts in their inventory.

Once you have nuts and bolts in your inventory, you can open your inventory and use them to craft the same exact way you crafted weapons back during Season 6. The big change in Season 7 is that nuts and bolts aren’t used to craft “upgrades” per se, but to convert weapons into other weapons

Through crafting, you can actually convert weapons into previously vaulted weapons, potentially making them more useful to you. For example, you can craft a Burst Assault Rifle from a regular Assault Rifle, though they’ll both have the same rarity.

Experimenting with crafting using nuts and bolts is imperative during Season 7 in Fortnite. In doing so, you’ll be able to see what sort of weapons your existing weapons can be crafted into, and you can play around with those weapons to see if you like the way they’re used or not.

For example, some Fortnite players may dislike the Burst Assault Rifle and would prefer to keep their weapon as a regular Assault Rifle. It’s entirely up to how each individual player prefers to play the game.

The summary here is that Season 7’s new crafting material, nuts and bolts, can be found by searching red toolboxes in Fortnite.
