New Maps Added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

An unexpected update.

On Twitter, Call of Duty Tracker pointed out an interesting update for a game that many weren’t expecting an update for.

According to the information provided by Call of Duty Tracker and outlets like Eurogamer, three new maps and a new 24/7 Killhouse playlist have been added to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

New Maps Added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players can look forward to a fresh batch of content including three new maps (Killhouse, Drainage, Al-Raab Airbase), along with a 24/7 Killhouse playlist.

The news of the update was first made public by accounts on social media like Call of Duty Tracker and later reported on by outlets like Eurogamer

The reaction to the news has been a mixture of surprise at the content appearing without warning, and happiness to see Modern Warfare continue to be supported with new maps.

Previously, the last we’d heard in regards to support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a brief update from Activision support on March 8 addressing a list of issues in the game that were under investigation and soon to be fixed.

Neither Infinity Ward nor Activision have publicly commented on the new content added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare yet. On Infinity Ward’s social media, the last tweet is in regards to #StopAAPIHate on March 17, while Activision’s social media has been back-to-back Cold War and Warzone updates.

It’d make sense if this were a small patch fixing bugs, or perhaps the addition of a single map, but the content added to Modern Warfare is actually pretty noteworthy.

The Killhouse map is an old fan favorite from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered, while maps like the 6v6 map Al-Raab Airbase and Drainage (Gunfight) have also been added to help spice things up.

We’re curious as to whether Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players can expect any additional content in the future, or if this is a one-time thing.

Perhaps these were additions that were going to be added as part of something else, but that has since been scrapped and they’re just being added in now as an afterthought. It’s hard to say for certain, especially seeing as how Season 6 for Modern Warfare ended in December and there’s been no announcement regarding the possibility of a Season 7.

And as previously mentioned, the focus over the last few months has been on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, with rumors of a new Call of Duty game coming out sometime later this year that may (or may not) be titled Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard.

If any other content gets added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this year, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Until then, what was your reaction upon hearing that Modern Warfare is getting three new maps? Are you excited to play the Killhouse map in Modern Warfare? Let us know on our social media channels including Facebook and Twitter!
