Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 continues the game’s fishing activity, offering new fish for players to catch like the Cuddle Fish, Stink Fish, and Hop Flopper. In total, there are 44 fish that you can catch in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6, and to catch some (or all) of these fish, you’ll need to partake in a little fishing.
If you’re wondering where you should go, we’ve got you covered with a comprehensive list of the best fishing spots in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6!
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 | The Best Fishing Spots
We’ve done a lot of fishing in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 so far, and have explored every corner and inch of the map in search of the best fishing spots. One reason why centers around the Collections page for fish, with 44 different fish available to catch in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6.
If you’re a completionist looking to fill out your Collections page for fish in addition to the Collections page for NPCs, knowing where to find the best fishing spots can be a huge help.
In the map image above, we’ve circled all of the locations we think consist of the best fishing spots in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6. We’ve also numbered them in order of our personal favorites to least favorites with #1 being our top favorite.
The red lines through the rivers denote that fish can be caught there, but it’s harder to label them as one specific “fishing spot” like the other circled locations.
Our criteria for the best fishing spots was the number of fishing opportunities available at those locations, how easy it is to get a fishing rod (including the Pro Fishing Rod and Harpoon Gun), and how easy it is to avoid enemies at these locations.
#1 Lake Canoe
The first – and arguably our favorite – fishing spot in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is Lake Canoe. There are so many fishing barrels to search here. So… many…
If you’re looking to get yourself a Pro Fishing Rod, the more fishing barrels you have to search the better. There are also plenty of fishing opportunities at Lake Canoe, and a few more should you head east and continue to follow the river as it snakes its way through the map.
Enemies will land here, but if you play your cards right, you can easily stock up on weapons before they can. We recommend landing at the upper porch level of the house, collecting any weapons you find there, head inside, collect more weapons and supplies, head to the bottom level and look under the stairs as a Chest will sometimes spawn here.
If you don’t find what you need here, there’s often a Chest underneath the pyramid of canoes in the center island of the lake. And, heading all the way to the structure to the north and using your pickaxe, you may find a Chest.
#2 Lazy Lake
Our second favorite fishing spot in Fortnite is the lake area to the east of Lazy Lake. Similar to Lake Canoe, there’s a multi-story building here that often contains weapons and supplies.
When searching the building, don’t forget to use your pickaxe to break through the garage as a chest will sometimes spawn here. You’ll find a plethora of fishing barrels to search, and a nice array of fishing opportunities.
There’s some danger of encountering enemy players as they move through the main Lazy Lake area, but there are quick ways to escape by following the river in either direction, or by heading into the mountains to the west of the lake area.
#3 Island East of Stealthy Stronghold
This island has several fishing barrels you can search, and as you circle the island, there are several fishing opportunities for you. The location is relatively out of the way, so you shouldn’t encounter too many enemy players here for the most part.
You can collect fish here that need to be caught at the “Coast” which is helpful when filling out your Collections page. There are other coastal locations on the map, but this island is close to many of them, making it a great spot to land first before heading to more contested areas like Stealthy Stronghold or Craggy Cliffs.
#4 Sweaty Sands / Coral Castle
This entire area is a fishing paradise with plenty of fishing barrels located all around the large body of water that separates Sweaty Sands and Coral Castle. Even though the area is quite large, there are a number of motorboats along the shore that you can use to travel between fishing areas.
Note that you can catch fish that need to be caught along the “Coast” here, which is useful for filling out your Collections page.
Despite the sheer size and scale, it’s ranked lower than some of the other locations as Sweaty Sands and Coral Castle tend to be hotly contested areas.
Also the size of the area itself can sometimes feel overwhelming when it comes to stocking up on weapons and supplies, getting a fishing rod, and then heading around to different fishing locations.
#5 Lake Area North of Misty Meadows
The large lake area to the north of Misty Meadows has always been a popular fishing spot as there are plenty of fishing barrels to search around the lake. We recommend the area a little less during Chapter 2 Season 6 than before during Season 5 as there’s a Guardian Tower in the center of the lake area now that tends to attract enemy players.
It’s also defended by a Guardian NPC that can deal a solid amount of damage if you aren’t prepared, and Misty Meadows itself tends to be a hotly contested area in general. With that being said, if you stick to the eastern side of the map closer to Lazy Lake, you can potentially avoid dealing with other players trying to shoot at you while you’re fishing.
If you can fish at Lazy Lake or Lake Canoe, we’d personally recommend trying those before this area, but it’s ultimately up to you.
#6 Craggy Cliffs
The shore area by Craggy Cliffs is a great spot to go fishing for fish that need to be caught in “Coast” areas. You can typically find fishing rods inside buildings in the Craggy Cliffs area itself, and occasionally along the shore as well.
The reason this location is ranked lower is primarily due to Craggy Cliffs being a cramped, hotly contested area, and the fact that it can be a challenge to get a fishing rod on occasion.
If you can fish on the island we ranked #3 that’s located west of Craggy Cliffs and east of Stealthy Stronghold, we recommend it. You can also get a fishing rod there and then travel over to the Craggy Cliffs area.
#7 Camp Cod
All the way to the south of the map is the island, Cape Cod. You’ll find a solid amount of fishing barrels and fishing opportunities, and the island is remote so you shouldn’t encounter too much traffic here.
So, why is it ranked so low? Well, it’s so far out of the way that you’ll almost always find yourself running and scrambling to avoid the storm as it starts moving in.
This can make it stressful to take the time to relax and fish knowing that you’re eventually going to have to drop everything and start running.
If you don’t mind landing here, fishing, then exiting the match that’s one thing. If you want to finish the match and earn as much XP as possible, Camp Cod is often too far out of the way for its own good.
#8 Coastal Area South of Holly Hedges
This is one of the niche fishing spots we like to land at due to the ability to catch “Coast” fish and its proximity to Slurpy Swamp where you can catch “Swamp” fish. The area is out of the way, so you shouldn’t encounter too many enemy players here.
It also has a nice array of fishing barrels to search. It’s ranked lower as the area itself is pretty small, and you’ll have to do some swimming to get over to Slurpy Swamp, which we recommend if you’re looking to fill out your Collections page.
Also similar to Camp Cod, it can sometimes be a little too far out of the way when it comes to the storm, so keep this in mind when fishing here that you may need to do a little running once the storm starts closing in.
#9 Stealthy Stronghold
Surprisingly, there’s a nice array of fishing opportunities here along with weapons and supplies galore. It can be a hotly contested area, and obtaining a fishing rod here can sometimes be a challenge, especially if you’re looking for a Pro Fishing Rod.
That being said, fishing in Stealthy Stronghold can occasionally be an enjoyable experience, and it’s located close enough to other fishing areas so as to make it a worthwhile fishing stop. You also won’t have to run as far once the storm starts moving in, at least, that’s how it’s been for us the last dozen times we’ve fished here.
#10 Slurpy Swamp
Slurpy Swamp itself is a place you’ll ultimately have to fish at if you’re looking to catch “Swamp” fish. It can be somewhat difficult to get a fishing rod here on occasion, and there are patches of the swamp that are too shallow to fish in, so you’ll need to cover more ground in order to hit all of the fishing spots.
Slurpy Swamp is also a hotly contested area, and enemy players can easily see you fishing around the main area if you aren’t careful. We recommend using our #8 pick to get a fishing rod, then making your way over to the Slurpy Swamp area to fish.
What’s nice is Slurpy Swamp has a river that connects and leads in to the Weeping Woods area where you can catch “Forest” fish so when you’re done at Slurpy Swamp, we recommend heading in that direction if you’re able. Just note that Weeping Woods is also hotly contested, so keep an ear and eye out for enemy players before you start fishing.
#11 Weeping Woods
Speaking of Weeping Woods, it’s our #11 pick largely because it’s here that you can catch a nice assortment of “Forest” fish. There are a few fishing barrels to search here, but they tend to be fairly spread out.
There’s also a Guardian Tower in the Weeping Woods area, and Weeping Woods itself is a hotly contested area. Add to that the fact that you’ll largely be fishing in the river that runs through Weeping Woods, which doesn’t have too many fishing opportunities, and you can see why we’ve ranked it so low.
It’s a key fishing spot when it comes to completing your Collections page, but it’s not the best if you’re just looking to kick back, relax, and fish.
#12 Dirty Docks
Last, but certainly not least, is the coastal area near Dirty Docks. Specifically, the coastal area to the north of Dirty Docks. Similar to the other locations on the list that rank lower, Dirty Docks is a hotly contested area.
It can also be a challenge to pick up a fishing rod on occasion, especially if you’re seeking a Pro Fishing Rod. The fishing opportunities aren’t as vast as other coastal areas like Sweaty Sands, but there are enough here that makes it worth checking out if you’re in the area.
It also has a nice assortment of motorboats, so you can move from the Dirty Docks coastal area north and west past the coastal areas of Steamy Stacks which don’t tend to have as many fishing opportunities as you might expect but can be worth hitting up if you’re in the area.
You can also run through the mountains from Dirty Docks to our #1 favorite fishing spot, Lake Canoe, which is one of the reasons why we picked it over the coastal area near Steamy Stacks. Dirty Docks is positioned a bit better.
And there you have it, our favorite fishing spots in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6. We realize we may have gone a little overboard on this guide, but we’ve been doing so much fishing over the last few weeks trying to complete our Collections page for fish that we felt it might be helpful in the long run.
Plus, fishing can be a fun activity in Fortnite, and the fish that you catch can be extremely useful to you. There are fish that can heal you like Floppers, fish that can boost your shields like Shield Fish and Jellyfish, and fish that can improve your movement.
For example, Spicy Fish can make you run faster, and Hop Floppers activate low gravity, letting you jump higher. There are also Cuddle Fish who are like living sticky grenades as they’ll hop up on nearby players and detonate, dealing damage which can be fun to play around with.
