Directed by Johannes Roberts, known for films such as 47 Meters Down and The Strangers: Prey at Night will be at the helm of this project. In an interview with Deadline, he said

“With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.”

The reboot already has an all-star cast with Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Tom Hopper as the iconic Albert Wesker, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Avan Jogia as Leon Kennedy, and Neal McDonough as William Birkin.

Resident Evil has had its fair share of terrible movies, as most video-game movie adaptions go, but this one sounds promising, and we’re excited to learn more.

The Resident Evil reboot does not currently have a release date, although it seems production is moving along at a nice pace. It might be sooner rather than later when we hear more about this project. Be sure to stick around Prima as we cover more of this as time goes on.

There are so many memorable moments from those early Resident Evil games. We’re excited to see how they adapt this new cast to this iconic video game characters. Just how faithful will this movie be? Will it feature the Raccoon City Police Department, or maybe the Spencer Mansion? We have so many questions already!
