In order to get more characters, you’ll need to level up your Fighter Rank. Wondering how many characters there are and what Fighter Rank they unlock at? Here’s the complete list!

All Playable Characters in Kirby Fighters 2

In Kirby Fighters 2, there are 17 playable Kirby abilities and 5 playable Buddy characters. You start with 3 different Kirby abilities at the start of the game: Sword Kirby, Bomb Kirby, and Staff Kirby.

You also start out with one Buddy character option, Bandana Waddle Dee. As you level up your Fighter Rank, you’ll unlock additional Kirby abilities and Buddy characters.

For example, you get the new Kirby ability Wrestler when you reach Fighter Rank 2. You also unlock a new Buddy, Gooey, when you reach Fighter Rank 3.

You can unlock all characters once you reach Fighter Rank 39, however, there are two special Buddy characters that require you to play Story Mode if you want to unlock them.

These include Meta Knight who unlocks after you beat Chapter 4 of Story Mode, and King Dedede who unlocks after you beat Chapter 5 of Story Mode.

With that out of the way, we’ve listed all of the playable characters in Kirby Fighters 2 below including the Fighter Rank they unlock at.

  • Sword Kirby — available immediately
  • Bomb Kirby — available immediately
  • Staff Kirby — available immediately
  • Bandana Waddle Dee — Buddy, available immediately
  • Wrestler Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 2
  • Gooey — Buddy, available at Fighter Rank 3
  • Yo-Yo Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 6
  • Beam Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 10
  • Beetle Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 11
  • Hammer Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 13
  • Fighter Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 16
  • Artist Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 21
  • Cutter Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 24
  • Whip Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 27
  • Archer Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 28
  • Water Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 30
  • Parasol Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 31
  • Ninja Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 33
  • Bell Kirby — available at Fighter Rank 37
  • Magalor — Buddy, available at Fighter Rank 39
  • Meta Knight — Buddy, unlocked after beating Chapter 4 of Story Mode
  • King Dedede — Buddy, unlocked after beating Chapter 5 of Story Mode

Out of all the characters in Kirby Fighters 2, the hardest to unlock is King Dedede as Chapter 5 of Story Mode is the hardest given you only have 3 tries to complete your climb to Floor 50 and survive the final boss battle.

Note that you can freely use any of the playable characters you’ve unlocked in battles against other players. For example, if you want to face off against players online while playing as Magalor or Meta Knight, you can.

In Story Mode, you’ll pick a character at the start of the chapter and will have to stay that character until the chapter has been completed. The same goes for the Buddy you choose in Story Mode.

Hopefully this helps give you a better idea as to how many playable characters there are in Kirby Fighters 2, when you can unlock them, and how you can utilize them.
