Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone’s season 5 arrives later this week, but some players are anxious to get that download started early. For those that want to be ready to drop in the second the new update hits, here’s what you need to know in order to download season 5 before launch for both Modern Warfare and Warzone.

How to download Modern Warfare & Warzone Season 5 early

It’s easy to see why so many would be interested. Modern Warfare made incredible changes to how the base game works, even down to the base mechanics of in-game movement. Warzone was also a massive hit, taking battle royale to even bigger heights with the high-intensity, free-to-play mode. 

While many have backed off of the game, including myself, due to outrageous update sizes, the interest in season 5 has been outstanding and Activision wants people to be able to dive in the moment this new update lands. As spotted by the folks over at Dexerto, downloading the version 1.24 update is available now, at least on PlayStation 4, allowing for plenty of time to pre-load before the update itself is actually live. 

How to pre-load Modern Warfare season 5 early on PS4

For those on PlayStation 4 that want to download early before the August 5th date, here’s what you need to know to get started: 

  • On PS4, hover over the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game
  • Options > Check for Update
  • Depending on the time zone, your PS4 system should recognize that a pre-load is available
  • Interact
  • Head to Downloads to verify it’s downloading
  • Wait for launch to kick all the ass

With the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season 5 rolling out on the 4th and the 5th, depending on those pesky timezones, the pre-load option may not be available for all. When checking on our local PS4, the download was readily available, though one of our UK writers mentioned not seeing anything there.
