If you’re looking to crack into the latest game mode that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has to offer because you’re mourning the recently departed Shipment mode, then you’re in luck. Infinity Ward has just announced the return of the fan favorite Grind game mode in Modern Warfare – here’s what we know about it so far.
“Grind” Game Mode Call of Duty Modern Warfare Update
The Grind game mode is a returning one from previous Call of Duty games. In particular, we’re talking Call of Duty: Ghosts, though hardcore fans of the series will have seen some iteration of this in other titles too. Grind is currently live on the playlist rotation for Modern Warfare, along with Shoot House 24/7. With Snowfight and Shipment making their way out, after the latter’s inclusion with the festive season, Grind looks to be a fun replacement at the very least.
According to this blog post from Activision, Grind is all about mowing down as many players as possible. How is this different from your regular multiplayer experience? Well, in Grind, it’s about collecting dog tags from the people you kill. Once you’ve downed someone, you have to frisk them for dog tags. Then, you have to carry those tags to a marked area on the map for them to count towards your team’s overall points.
How do you stop this from becoming predictable? Well, the drop-off location for your tags changes as gameplay draws on, which keeps things from being just about camping the right route for the entirety of one match. On top of that, if you’re taken out while you’re packing tags, you’ll lose them all; you can prevent enemies from amassing too many by also nabbing those of your mates who have been downed, adding yet another level of counterplay to everything.
Weighing up risk and reward in the new Grind game mode in Modern Warfare looks like it’s going to be particularly exhilarating, particularly if you consider the potential for chaos possessed by some of the current maps in rotation.
