Capcom Files Dino Crisis Trademark, Sparking Remake Rumors Once More

A Dino Crisis remake is seeming more and more likely!

Capcom has definitely been on the remake train in recent years and with the Resident Evil 2 remake being such a success and Resident Evil 3 on the way, other franchises are definitely coming under the spotlight. Because of that, the thirst for a Dino Crisis remake is real and a recent trademark filing has just sparked rumors that this could be the next play on nostalgia.

As reported by Japanese site Chizai-Watch (via Siliconera), Capcom filed to renew its Dino Crisis trademark. While this is exciting for many, it’s important to remember that companies renew trademarks all of the time. This protects their properties and their right to capitalize on franchises under their umbrella while also – yes – opening up the possibility for future entries.

For those that may not know, Dino Crisis first enamored gamers when it released back in 1999. The survival horror title by Capcom was pretty much an instant hit on the PlayStation and ultimately made its way to different platforms. Created by Shinji Mikami, many compared it to that of the Resident Evil franchise, but with dinosaurs, which – yeah, no wonder it was so popular!

Dino Crisis was one of several games listed as renewed trademarks so again, don’t get those hopes up quite yet. That being said, rumors of a return to Dino Crisis have been rampant since 2017 and bringing back older franchises – as well as remakes – has proven to be a cash cow for the company. For now, we wait and hope that if a new Dino is truly in the works that we can get a reveal sooner rather than later.
