Players exploring the engaging world of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice often circle back on the same question, how do you save your progress? Similar to other games on the market right now, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice incorporates a comprehensive auto-save feature that keeps track of everything you do from winning battles to collecting items.
As such, the easiest way to save your progress in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is by triggering the auto-save mechanic. This can be done in a variety of ways from winning and completing a battle, to paying a visit to an area like the Dilapidated Temple and speaking with Lady Emma.
Another recommended way to trigger an auto-save is by finding and resting at Sculptor’s Idols. Not only will resting at a Sculptor’s Idol trigger an auto-save, it’ll also help you replenish charges for your Healing Gourds, and unlock a new point for fast travel.
If you’ve done this but want to be doubly sure that all of your progress has saved before exiting out of the game, there is another way to trigger one last auto-save. To do this you’ll need to find the “Quit Game” option by opening up the Menu in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice using the Esc key on PC, Menu on Xbox One, and Options on PlayStation 4.
Next, expand the Options tab, then select “Quit Game” to end your current session. When done properly, this will also trigger an auto-save in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. If you’re uncertain whether the game saved after resting at a Sculptor’s Idol, you can also use the Quit Game option to confirm your progress has been preserved though this extra step is entirely optional.
As long as you remember to trigger an auto-save before closing out of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, your progress should be tracked accordingly. The only time you may run into an issue with saving your progress is if your system abruptly crashes, the power goes out, etc.
