One of the biggest map changes of Fortnite Season 7 is the massive new snow biome that dominates the southwest corner of the map. The giant iceberg that collided with the island created a new region that features three new points of interest: Frosty Flights, Happy Hamlet, and Polar Peak. The map changes didn’t stop there, however. With Fortnite’s latest 7.10 patch update, the snow that once topped Polar Peak has begun to melt, revealing a massive castle for players to explore.
The emergence of the hidden “Ice King Castle” in Polar Peak shouldn’t come as much surprise, as many fans had speculated that the snow atop the iceberg would eventually melt to reveal new structures underneath. Polar Peak was once home to the Infinity Blade, a powerful sword that has since been sheathed and vaulted until further notice.
Not unlike the castle near Haunted Hills, the Polar Peak ice castle is several stories tall and houses a variety of loot for players to collect. A few chests can be found within the large throne room in the center of the castle, and there is other floor loot sprinkled throughout. Blue-flamed torches line the glossy walkway leading to the throne, hinting at an icy ruler that may have once presided there.
While most of the castle has been revealed, there are still a few chambers on the lower level that are blocked by ice and snow, so there’s a good chance there’s more to this castle than meets the eye.
There is still a significant chunk of territory hidden beneath the ice cap that has taken over the lower-left quadrant of the Fortnite map for Season 7, so we should expect to see more surprises revealed as the ice continues to melt over the coming weeks. Players should also look forward to the arrival of the Driftboard, which should make traversing the snow-capped region a bit easier.
