Vampire Survivors creator Luca Galante partners with Shueisha Games to add more to its popular genre of a bullet hell roguelike using one of the most popular anime series, Jujutsu Kaisen. The collaboration makes complete sense as anyone who watches anime want to see their favorite ultra-powerful character defeat hordes of enemies, get stronger, and more. It is a perfect fit.

Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton Mixes Battle Royale and Bullet Hell Roguelikes

If you aren’t familiar with Vampire Survivors and countless of other games capitalizing on the genre, it is a game where you start of fresh with a character, defeat hordes of enemies, get increasingly stronger, eventually lose, and start over again. Obviously, there’s a lot more to it than that, but that’s just one way to put it.

However, the new game, Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton, revolves around the same gameplay mechanics but with a few added twists. Firstly, the game isn’t singeplayer. You actually compete with eight other players in a match, scoring points by crushing waves of cursed spirits. At 100 points, players can add rule additions to disrupt opponents. To fans of the anime, this is basically giving shades of the “Culling Game” from the series. You are not only trying to survive, but you are playing to win on the rankings.

Second, the game eventually ends where the top 2 players on the rankings face off in a 1v1 duel, making the game competitive. This adds another layer of builds players need to look into. Lastly, the game is based on Jujutsu Kaisen, featuring 20+ characters from series with their own skills and playstyle.

Who doesn’t want to see Satoru Gojo massacre endless waves of cursed spirits and bosses, right? The collaboration feels like a match made in anime heaven, as most shounen animes tend to have characters that start weak and endlessly grind until they get stronger and unlock their full potential, which is in the case for these type of games.

Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton has no release date yet, but is scheduled to release this year, 2026.
