Guided Missiles Are Returning to Fortnite

After undergoing a series of changes, Guided Missiles are finally returning to Fortnite Battle Royale.

After receiving some balance adjustments, Guided Missiles are finally making their return to Fortnite. Developer Epic Games removed the versatile explosive weapon back in April, following complaints from the community regarding the overall strength and fairness of the weapon. According to a new in-game news announcement, the Guided Missile’s return to Fortnite is forthcoming.

In a recent developer diary, Epic explains that they have made various changes to the Guided Missile so that it functions as “more of a scouting tool than a high-damage threat.” Epic has reduced the movement speed, turning radius, damage, and damage radius of the Guided Missile, while improving its movement controls when using a mouse and keyboard. The Guided Missile will also have an ammo cap of just 12 rockets. You can view the latest developer diary update for Fortnite Battle Royale below.

While no release date was explicitly specified, we do know that Fortnite will go down for maintenance to apply the v5.10 Content Update on July 31 at 4 a.m. ET. If the rocket emoji is any indication, there’s a good chance we will see Guided Missiles make their return as part of the content update, so make sure you have auto-updates enabled.

Since Guided Missiles have been gone for a while in Fortnite Battle Royale, you may want to brush up on how to use Guided Missiles in Fortnite to prepare for their return. We may also see a Guided Missile-related challenge sometime soon as well, so keep an eye on the latest Fortnite Season 5 Weekly Challenges, just in case.
