10 New Things We Learned About Star Wars Zero Company From the Latest Developer Q&A
Clone Squad, huh?
Ahead of Star Wars Zero Company’s launch in August, Bit Reactor answered dozens of community questions on Discord, revealing a ton of new information about the upcoming turn-based strategy title new details about campaign length, customization, gameplay systems, and post-launch plans. Here are the biggest takeaways from the developer Q&A.
1. The Campaign Will Take Around 30 to 40 Hours
The team confirmed that the campaign will take around 30 to 40 hours for the average player to complete. This will vary depending on the difficulty and familiarity with the strategy genre, but that’s the ballpark figure.
2. You Can Build an Entire Clone Trooper Squad
After a certain point in the story, players can unlock Clone Troopers, which can allow them to have a full team of Clone Troopers, as God intended.

Additionally, operators in Zero Company will have access to clone armor cosmetics, allowing them to customize their armor from the start. Another neat detail is that the Clone Trooper helmets provide voice modulation to operators.
3. The Galaxy Map Features Over 150 Planets
Star Wars Zero Company’s Galaxy Map includes over 150 planets where strategic Operations can take place throughout the campaign.

According to Bit Reactor, many of these locations feature choose-your-own-adventure-style war table events, while Tactical Missions take place across more than a dozen handcrafted planets.
4. There Won’t Be Any Microtransactions
Bit Reactor has confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company will launch without any planned microtransactions or additional monetization, allowing players to experience the full game without in-game purchases.
5. Permadeath Can Be Disabled
While Permadeath is enabled by default, players can disable it and tailor the difficulty to their liking.

Bit Reactor says the mode provides a unique experience that reflects one of Star Wars’ core themes by having players experience loss and its consequences.
6. Most Cutscenes Are Rendered in Real Time
Bit Reactor confirmed that while there are some pre-rendered cutscenes in Zero Company, most of them are rendered in-game to ensure that players can see their customized characters in cutscenes.

7. New Game Plus Won’t Be Available at Launch
At launch, Zero Company will not have a New Game Plus feature; however, subsequent playthroughs will unlock certain customization options. They haven’t said if the feature will eventually make its way to the title, but they specifically said “at launch,” so it’s definitely possible it’ll be added in an update.
8. There Are No Romance Options or Multiple Endings
Despite its emphasis on squad relationships, Star Wars Zero Company won’t feature romance options or branching story paths. While squad composition can affect certain story moments and character Bonds, the overall narrative remains linear from beginning to end.
9. Story Missions Include Third-Person Exploration
Unlike many turn-based strategy games, some story missions in Star Wars Zero Company include third-person exploration before combat begins. These sections let players explore parts of the environment, gather Intel and Advantage Points, and gain a tactical edge before transitioning into turn-based battles.
10. You Can Customize Nearly Every Member of Zero Company
Zero Company offers extensive customization beyond its predefined heroes. Alongside story characters like Trick, Tel-Rea, and Cly, you can recruit fully custom Operators, changing their appearance, names, backstories, and equipment. Hawks is also highly customizable, letting you build a squad that reflects your preferred playstyle.

The team revealed a lot more in their full Q&A post, which you can check out on Steam.
While plenty of details had already been revealed through gameplay trailers and previews, the latest Q&A fills in several gaps, especially when it comes to the campaign, customization, and progression systems. Star Wars Zero Company continues to look like a promising strategy game, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Bit Reactor’s take on the Star Wars universe comes together when it launches on August 27, 2026. You can pre-order it now and get a neat cosmetics set for your droids.
