007 First Light is a fantastic experience on PC and offers plenty of graphical and accessibility settings, but it lacks a field-of-view slider. Thankfully, a new mod lets you easily adjust the FOV in 007 First Light, and here is how you can install it.

Adjust the FOV in 007 First Light

You can’t adjust the default field of view (FOV) value in 007 First Light, but this mod by Nexus Mods user Su4enka lets you do just that. They have provided a bunch of preset values, which I recommend using over manually setting one, as that’s a tiny bit more complicated.

Here is how you can install the mod:

  • First, make sure the game isn’t currently running.
  • Head over to where 007 First Light is installed:
    • Right-click on 007 First Light in the Steam library.
    • Select Manage, followed by Browse local files.
  • Open the Runtime folder and create a backup of the packagedefinition.txt file. I recommend doing this if you want to check between different values.
  • Next, open the following link and download the mod zip file. You can choose from several FOV values, including 70,90,110. You will need a free Nexus Mods account to download the files.
  • After you’ve downloaded the file, head back to where 007 First Light is installed and extract the zip file in the main folder (common\007 First Light).
  • Replace any files that are prompted.

That’s all you need to do, and the FOV adjustment will be applied in-game. I’ve personally tested the “90 FOV 10 Pct Distance 0.12 Height” preset, and here is how it looks in action:

I recommend selecting from the preset values because it’s practically drag and drop. Just replace the files whenever prompted. The mod author has provided instructions on how to create files for custom FOV values on the main mod page as well.

How to Delete the Mod

If you want to delete the mod and stick with the default FOV value, here is what you need to do.

  • Head over to where the game is installed and open the Runtime folder.
  • Here, delete the following files:
    • chunk0patch204.rpkg
    • chunk1patch204.rpkg
    • packagedefinition.txt
  • Restore the original packagedefinition.txt file from the backup or verify game files in Steam to generate it.
    • Open Steam and navigate to your library.
    • Here, right-click on 007 First Light and select Properties.
    • In the Installed Files tab, click on Verify integrity of game files.

I really hope that IO Interactive considers adding an FOV slider in 007 First Light so we can further customize the visual experience without needing to use mods. For now, if you are not happy with the default FOV in different sections, this mod does a great job and is pretty easy to install.
