Overcooked 2 is headed to the Switch this summer with new recipes, kitchens, and more culinary chaos.

Part of the success of the Nintendo Switch is its tendency to take local multiplayer seriously. Many gamers remember playing Nintendo games on the couch with their friends, and Nintendo seems to also share in those memories. As a result, Nintendo has revealed the sequel to Overcooked, a chaotic co-op kitchen simulator in which you compete with your friends by making yummy meals for judgy guests. Overcooked 2 will be released for Nintendo Switch on August 7, 2018.

Overcooked 2 was announced today during the Nintendo Direct E3 2018 presentation, where the character roster for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was revealed as well. The sequel will feature new characters, recipes, and even dynamic kitchens that change mid-cook-off. Overcooked 2 will also support online multiplayer, which is perhaps the sequel’s most exciting feature.

The original Overcooked game was received well on all platforms, getting a 9/10 on Steam. The game simulated the true culinary chaos of cooking in a kitchen. In Overcooked 2, Nintendo plans on ramping up that chaos by introducing shifting and transforming levels. Developer Ghost Town Games and publisher Team 17 promise to give us more recipes and mechanics as well.

Overcooked 2 will release on August 7. Understandably, Nintendo’s announcement teaser only mentioned the Nintendo Switch version, but given the first game was released on all platforms, we suspect it will eventually land on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in due time.
