How to Pause in State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2 is primarily an online multiplayer game, where friends can team up online for some co-op zombie slaying. Given the game’s online functionality, many players have been wondering whether it’s possible to pause State of Decay 2. The short answer is yes, though doing so will require some extra steps. How to Pause in State of Decay 2

As with nearly every online multiplayer game, you cannot fully pause while the game is online. When you bring up the Pause Menu in State of Decay 2, the game will bring up the menu, but doesn’t entirely pause in the background. To fully pause in State of Decay 2, you must first turn off Multiplayer and set the game to Offline. This can be done in just a few simple steps, similar to the steps for setting up co-op.

How to Go Offline 

1. Bring up the Pause Menu by pressing Start (Xbox One) or Esc (PC).
2. Select the Multiplayer tab on the left.
3. Change the game to Offline.

Keep in mind that you still won’t be able to pause while playing multiplayer in State of Decay 2, as this requires you to be online in order to play co-op with friends. However, if you aren’t into co-op or simply want the freedom to fully pause your game while playing solo, then be sure to switch to offline mode so that you can pause your State of Decay 2 game session whenever you want.
