Season 4 of Fortnite is in full swing, with an assortment of new challenges to complete and new sprays, emotes, and customizations to unlock. Among the rewards is a brand-new outfit known as the Carbide skin, which players can unlock and upgrade as they progress through Season 4. We’ll go over how to get the Carbide skin and pickaxe in Fortnite and how to upgrade the Carbide armor set so you can loot the battlegrounds in style in Fortnite Battle Royale.
How to Get the Carbide Skin
Getting your hands on the Carbide skin in Fortnite is as easy as purchasing the Season 4 Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks. Doing so will unlock the base version of the Tier 1 Carbide skin along with a series of new customizations for your character. After purchasing the Battle Pass, you can open the Battle Pas tab on Fortnite Battle Royale’s main menu screen to track your progress.
How to Upgrade the Carbide Outfit
Season 4 has introduced new types of challenges for players to strive towards in Fortnite Battle Royale. Like the Omega Challenges, the Carbide Challenges reward players with pieces of an armor set for reaching level milestones throughout the season. As your Season Level increases, you will unlock upgrades for the Carbide skin. Note that this is separate from your Battle Pass Rank. Players must complete all five Carbide Challenges in order to complete the Carbide Armor set.
When you have completed three of the five Carbide Challenges (or reach level 30) in Fortnite, you will also unlock the Carbide pickaxe, a snazzy new tool to match with your upgraded Carbide gear.
Carbide Armor Challenges
Carbide Challenge | Reward |
Reach Season Level 10 | Carbide Chest Armor |
Reach Season Level 20 | Carbide Leg Armor |
Reach Season Level 30 | Carbide Arm Armor |
Reach Season Level 40 | Carbide Helmet |
Reach Season Level 65 | Carbide Upper Body Armor |
If the Carbide skin isn’t your style, then perhaps you should strive to unlock the Omega outfit instead. Unlocking the Omega gear involves a similar milestone process as the Carbide skin, so either way, you’ll need to grind as much XP as possible in order to level up your Battle Pass and unlock either of these exclusive new outfits in Fortnite. The best way to increase your Battle Pass rank is by completing the Season 4 weekly challenges, such as dancing in front of film cameras or visiting letter locations to spell out ‘Fortnite’.
Completing weekly challenges will also unlock access to Blockbuster Challenges, which offer free Battle Pass tiers for those who are diligent enough to get all the weekly challenges done. For more Fortnite tips and strategies, be sure to check out our coverage on our Fortnite Battle Royale Guide.
