Fallout 4 is Coming to Switch 2, and I’m Having A Real Hard Time Caring At All

It's soooo old.

With the last Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Fallout 4 would come to the Switch 2 on Feb 24. It’s a shiny new Anniversary Edition that includes all the expansions plus a ton of extra in-game goodies, but honestly, does anyone care?

The game’s been out for 11 freaking years already. If folks haven’t played it yet, why would they buy it now? Ah, but you see, they’ve never played it on the Switch 2, so naturally, Bethesda would think that a complete repacking and resale of an 11-year-old-game is okay.

Meanwhile, we’re over here begging for the smallest scrap of Elder Scrolls VI news. Nothing, nada, who cares? Not Bethesda.

Alright, there were some other cool releases for the Switch 2, which I actually get. The Oblivion Remake, for one, which makes sense – it didn’t release 11 years ago, unless of course you count the original… but you shouldn’t, the remake is really good and worth a play in 2026.

I never played Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but my colleagues who did thought it was an outstanding game, so I get it – bring it to the Switch 2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also makes sense, since there’s an entire other game coming out of that one sometime in the next few years.

But Fallout 4? Seriously? People actually spent time working on a Switch 2 Port when they could have been creating Elder Scrolls VI? Alright, maybe I’m going a bit too far here. Still, all we have are whispers and speculation.

Sure, the studio did say they were working on the game as a matter of priority since 2023, but that really doesn’t mean much at the moment. Given modern development cycles, we could be waiting until 2033 or even beyond.

I mean, how amazing would it be if we could make the meme “we got ES VI before we got GTA VI.” I think that would be the best thing to happen in the next two years. Because let’s be honest, we’re most likely going to see another delay on GTA VI.

Thankfully, in both cases, we know the wait will be worth it.

Over to you, dear reader. Which of these Switch 2 titles will you pick up, if any? And if you do pick any of them up, do you even own a PC? I’m genuinely curious.

As a lifetime gamer, I was around to enjoy the NES, witness the birth of the PS1, and live through the golden age that was the PS2. My favorite game (no doubt driven by nostalgia) is Final Fantasy VII, but I'm always on the lookout for my new favorite.
