How to Find and Defeat Jason in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 4

Luckily, it doesn't have to be Friday the 13th to find him.

There are a few special bosses wandering around the map for Fortnitemares, all of which drop special loot and are essential to beat for event quests. Jason is one of these bosses, and he’s a decently tough guy to track down.

Beating Jason in battle is one of the many missions you need to tackle to earn the free Fortnitemares rewards. The island is vast, and there are loads of characters you can find around it, so if you’re struggling to track him down, here’s how to find and defeat Jason in Fortnite.

Jason has two possible spawn locations on the island, both of which are fairly far apart, making it tough to travel to both in the same round if he’s not at the first spot you check. His potential spawn locations are:

  • Near the northern end of Creepy Camps, close to the massive cabin at this location.
  • Close to the west edge of Freaky Fields, around the tall hay, and close to the red barn.

Jason’s precise location is marked with a skull wearing a crown icon. Unfortunately, you can only see this icon on your map once you’re actually at the same POI as him. Key bosses and locations are usually marked with icons on the map, but for this installment of the Fortnitemares event, none of them are, making it a lot tougher than usual to find what you’re looking for.

The Mother of Thorns, Doja Cat, can also spawn at Freaky Fields, so when you see this icon there, it could be either one of them wandering around. If it’s Doja Cat, she’ll be sitting on a throne near the barn, while Jason always wanders around, so it’s fairly easy to figure out which one is present.

To defeat Jason in battle, prioritize keeping your distance and shooting at him with everything you’ve got. He doesn’t run and will only ever stalk after you, giving you a bit of an advantage as long as you keep a gap between you. If he catches up to you, you’re in trouble, as his swift strikes are rather deadly.

Jason is a slow-moving, but powerful boss who can swiftly knock down your health bar if you let him get too close. He also has a lot more health than other bosses around the island and is a bit of a tank who takes a while to bring down.

Defeating Jason in battle gets you a Legendary Wood Stake Shotgun. This is the only special item he drops. It’s a really good weapon, but his boss fight is a pretty daunting one, so it might not feel like it’s really worth the effort. Jason is scary at first, but once you get used to fighting him, he’s really easy to take down, so practice is key for overcoming this boss battle.

When you’re done fighting Jason, you might consider working on other key Fortnitemares quests to get closer to earning all event prizes. Some good ones to work on are carving pumpkinsdefeating Ultima Carver, calling players with Last Call, and visiting Stalkboxes.
