Horizon Zero Dawn just got a little bigger, thanks to its newest DLC—The Frozen Wilds. The DLC isn’t just a new area tacked on with old features, though, and if you really want to explore the true depth of the DLC, you’re going to have to know how to get through all the hoops and hurdles that you encounter along the way. Take the new door puzzles for example. While they are eerily similar to the puzzles that players have encountered in the past, they are a bit trickier to solve, and because of this we’ve put some advice to help you learn how to solve door puzzles in The Frozen Wolds DLC, which will allow you to get through to new areas faster.
It should be mentioned, this will not be a massive hub of all the door puzzle solutions. Instead, this guide will simply show you how to solve the puzzles yourself. You’ll still need to do all the work.
How to Solve Door Puzzles
The trick to learning how to solve the new puzzles in The Frozen Wilds is understanding your goal. This goal isn’t obviously apparent right from the start. The goal in solving the new puzzles in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds, is to set up a path for the light that leads it back to the source (the center of the lock puzzle). Now, these puzzles get more and more difficult to complete as you progress further into the DLC, and you’ll have to move multiple pieces around to really make the solution work out and get the light back to the center.

Now, to solve these puzzles you’ll need to connect the different pieces until the light is transferred from the center, out into the puzzle, and then back into the center. This will then allow Aloy to override the lock, and open whatever door or secret it is connected to. That being said, you can only control the pieces two ways, and each piece is set to a specific alignment, which you’ll need to use to your advantage to get the light all the way back to the center.
The best way to find the solution to these puzzles is to start from the beginning. Experiment, see where the light goes when you turn the first piece in different directions, and then get started from there. Most times you’ll only have two possible directions that you can send the flow of light, so use this to your advantage.
