The Return to Beast’s Castle update primarily focuses on expanding the world of Beauty and the Beast with two new characters, but there are also plenty of exciting new items, events, and more to uncover. Here’s a breakdown of everything it includes.

New characters

Cogsworth the clock and Lumiere the candelabra join the valley with this update, bringing with them plenty of exciting additions. As you get to know them, you’ll unlock new quests and exclusive rewards. It seems like they’ll be moving in with Belle and the Beast based on what we’ve seen so far, so they likely won’t have a fresh house for you to build.

Updated Realm

The Beauty and the Beast Realm has been around since the Enchanted Adventure update that dropped on Sept. 13, 2023, but it’s getting a slight refresh with some new additions in this update. We’ll be venturing inside the Beast’s castle once more to uncover some fresh mysteries that have arrived.

If you haven’t unlocked this area yet, you’ll need to spend 12,500 Dreamlight to enter and unlock Lumiere and Cogsworth. You’ll also need to work on unlocking Belle and the Beast first, as the other two are locked behind their Realm quests.

New quests

This update has loads of new quests to tackle. There are new missions tied to the updated Beauty and the Beast Realm, friendship quests you unlock as you build your relationship with Cogsworth and Lumiere, and tasks included in the optional Once Upon a Dance Dream Bundle.

New Premium Shop items

The Premium Shop is getting a fresh batch of goodies you can buy. Some of the assets that have been teased so far are the first cat to arrive in the village, the Witchy Kitty, and the first Dream Castle skin, Halloween Castle. There’s also a new Dream Bundle, Once Upon a Dance, which comes with ballroom styles for the Beast and Belle, quests, fresh interactions, and other new items.

Witchful Thinking Star Path

The event of my dreams has arrived with the addition of the Witchful Thinking Star Path. It’s got everything a witch or wizard could ever need, including plenty of spellbinding furniture and frightfully fun outfits. Some of the items we’ve seen are a witch outfit, a bubbling purple cauldron, a magical book glider, witch brooms, and an alchemy table.

New and returning events

The annual Trick or Treat event will return again, running from Oct. 15 to 31. While this event is active, you can find colorful candy buckets around the Plaza and complete special Dreamlight Duties to claim Halloween-themed prizes.

A new event is also debuting later in the month. This event is called Haunting Floating Festivals, and will run from Oct. 22 to Nov. 11. A mysterious portal to a magical floating island will appear in the Plaza, and you’ll have to work to solve the many puzzles it presents to claim a prize.

New features and quality of life improvements

There are quite a few exciting new, smaller features and improvements in this update. All tools now have an extra pose in Photo Mode, allowing for more options to help you create the perfect shot. The Royal Phone tool also has two new poses now, so you can snap a photo while holding it.

Night Thorns can be toggled off in pictures, so you don’t have to manually remove each of them to set up the perfect shot. This toggle works for Inkies and Splinters of Fate, too, so no matter where you are, you can freely hide them as needed.

Other changes and additions

In addition to all of the major new features, there are several small changes and additions included in this update, too. Here’s a breakdown of all of them.

  • The Collection and Village tabs have been reworked into a new Mysteries tab.
  • Gardening, Fishing, and Cooking have been merged into an Activities tab.
  • New seasonal Moonstone Bundles are available.
  • Scrooge McDuck’s shop has new items in rotation.
  • The Teal Baby Dragon and Black Pegasus are now available for all The Storybook Vale DLC owners.

We’ve listed all of the biggest additions here, but if you want to delve into the bug fixes and small changes featured in this update, you may want to check out the official Return to Beast’s Castle patch notes.
