Hollow Knight Silksong All Volatile Flintbeetle Locations

Tracking down the Volatile Flintbeetles is one of the early quests in Hollow Knight Silksong. The quest doesn’t give you directions and expects you to track and beat 3 dangerous Flintbeetles. Here’s a quick guide on all Volatile Flintbeetle locations and how to beat them in Silksong.

How to Track Volatile Flintbeetle

You start the Volatile Flintbeetle quest by accepting it from the Wish board in the Bone Bottom village. You’ll be tasked with tracking down and slaying three Volatile Flintbeetles. To track them, you actually need to go around The Marrow and find their droppings. Interacting with these will show you a path to the Flintbeetle’s location.

However, their locations are fixed, so you can just head to the map locations we show you below and skip the hassle of tracking. Be warned that these Volatile Flintbeetles are quite dangerous and can easily catch you off guard if you’re not prepared to face them.

All Volatile Flintbeetle Locations

Volatile Flintbeetle #1

The first Volatile Flintbeetle can be tracked from the first bench in The Marrow. Interact with the droppings, and they will take you above to your left in the previous chamber.

Attack the Flintbeetle lodged in the ceiling to begin the fight. The terrain here can be rough to manage, but you can always retreat and use other enemies to heal.

Volatile Flintbeetle #2

The second Flintbeetle can be found in the same room up and left in the Marrow where you find one of the Lost Fleas. Head to the location marked below.

You’ll find it lodged in the wall on the top right. We suggest clearing out all other enemies first, as they make the fight a lot harder by getting in the way of your retreat and attacking you.

Volatile Flintbeetle #3

The third and final Volatile Flintbeetle can be found near the right side of the Marrow, embedded in a wall.

By now, you can probably deal with it easily, but if you’re struggling, here are some tips to remember.

How to Beat Volatile Flintbeetles

There are three attacks you need to watch out for:

• Charge Attack with Explosive Trail: It’s better to run away from this rather than landing behind the beetle as the explosives will hit you.
• Jumping attack with an explosive arc: It’s best to stand still and move to the small safe area under the arc or take a step backwards.
• Lava bullet rain: It stands in place and launches 4-6 lava bullets in arcs on both sides at close and medium range. You can generally dodge these by relying on reflexes, or you can just take a step back to safety.

They also explode when they die, so be careful if you’re low on health.

Volatile Flintbeetles Quest Reward

Once you defeat all 3 Volatile Flintbeetles and collect their drops, you can return to the Wish Board and collect your reward, a Memory Locket. You can use Memory Lockets to increase your Charm slots. Sit down on a bench and unlock one of the empty slots.
