Power Level is by far one of the most confusing components of Fortnite, and we’ve seen a lot of players get caught up on it. How do you increase it? What is it? What does it matter? These are all important questions that we’ll help you answer, and in this article we’ll teach you everything you need to know about how to increase your Power Level in Fortnite.
What is Power Level?
The first thing we need to do, before we can start increasing our Power Level, is we need to understand what it is. Basically, your Power Level is kind of like the overall level of your account. It dictates what type of missions you can take on, how strong you’ll be in those missions, and even the kind of experience you’ll get from different missions. Based on everything we’ve learned thus far, your Power Level is based off of four basic stats: Fortitude, Offense, Resistance and Tech (also known as F.O.R.T in the game).
You’ve probably seen these stats mentioned before when looking at the various skills available in the Skill Tree. The more that you increase these particular stats, the higher your Power Level will become. This means you’ll want to focus on unlocking skills that increase your F.O.R.T stats, as this will unlock new avenues of play for your party.
How to Increase Power Level
Now that we understand what your Power Level is, let’s talk about the best ways to increase it. First off, as mentioned above, the Power Level is based off of your F.O.R.T stats, which can all be increased within your Skill Tree. This means you should definitely try to unlock skills that increase your stats. The good news is, you can’t miss a lot of these skills, as they require you to unlock them as you progress, which means you’ll constantly be upgrading those stats, even if you’re focused on getting to a class-based skill that you want to unlock.
As you play the game, you’ll acquire Research Points that can be used in an entirely different skill tree. This skill tree is great because it will actually allow you to upgrade a lot of your F.O.R.T stats, which means you should focus your actual Skill Points on unlocking new slots for your Squads. Having higher powered squad members on your team will make your Power Level rise as well, so be sure to upgrade your squad members as you recover more experience for them.
