Piccolo and Krillin Join Dragon Ball FighterZ

Two staples have been officially confirmed for the upcoming fighting game.
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

In the latest issue of V-Jump magazine, there’s a special on Dragon Ball FighterZ which confirms Piccolo and Krillin being included in the roster. While most assumed both characters would be revealed eventually, especially with a Namek stage showing up in the E3 2017 build of the game, this is our first confirmation of the two characters being included. With Dragon Ball FighterZ adding Krillin and Piccolo, the roster of characters now moves up to nine.

It took about a month for gameplay footage of Trunks to be revealed after he was initially announced shortly after E3 2017. However, with the beta coming before the end of the summer and registration starting on July 26, 2017, eager fans may get to play as both characters before they have a proper gameplay trailer. Arc System Works and Bandai Namco have already confirmed that the beta will include nine playable characters, and with Krillin and Piccolo making nine characters officially revealed, it seems likely these are the nine characters that will be playable in the beta.

As you might expect, Piccolo has attacks that use his ability to stretch his limbs, as well as the Special Beam Cannon. Krillin has the Destructo Disc and in one of the screens from V-Jump we can see two Krillins on-screen at once, meaning that he makes a clone (Tri-Form) for at least one of his attacks. Piccolo has a similar ability, but we can’t yet confirm if we’ll see this in the game. We should have more information on both fighters once the beta goes live later this summer.

V-Jump also included a small bit of information about the online system in Dragon Ball FighterZ. If you’ve played Guilty Gear Xrd you should already have a pretty good idea of what to expect. In Dragon Ball FighterZ there will be chibi versions of the characters that players will control in online lobbies. These chibi versions of the characters will even be able to battle against each other, although full details have not yet been revealed.

We’ll have more information, including official breakdowns of all nine characters as soon as the beta goes live. Be sure to check out more information on the beta, Trunks gameplay reveal and more in our Dragon Ball FighterZ game hub!
