What Items Are Restricted in the Secure Container in Escape from Tarkov? – Hardcore Wipe

At least those Unheard containers are temporarily nerfed.

In Escape from Tarkov’s 0.16.8 patch, a drastic change was made to Secure Containers, which will only be effective for this patch alone, dubbing the wipe as “hardcore.”

Several useful items can no longer be placed in Secure Containers, leaving players vulnerable to losing their valuable possessions in every raid. Here are all the restrictions for the Secure Container in Escape from Tarkov.

What Can You Put Inside the Secure Container in Escape from Tarkov?

In patch 0.16.8, players are now restricted from putting most medical items in the Secure Container. This includes all types of medical supplies, such as IFAKs, AFAKs, Hemostats, and more. However, stimulants are still okay, like Propitals, Morphines, and other useful but expensive buffs.

These changes alone are extremely drastic because players will now lose way more money than they should when losing a raid. Since everyone goes into a raid with medical supplies, players tend to put them inside the pouch so they can save them up for the next raid.

Apart from medical items, currencies such as Roubles, USD, and Euros are all restricted from the Secure Container. This adds more risk for players to add currency when joining a raid for using the vehicle extracts.

However, its biggest pitfall is the lack of currency to be used for transits. Since the hardcore wipe has restricted locations, players use the transits to get to the maps they want. If they want to send some gear back to their stash during transit, it’ll cost a lot of currency inside the raid. Most players won’t bring currency just for this feature, and will just bring those rare items with them to the next transit and hope to survive.

The next biggest restriction from the Secure Container is ammunition. Players can no longer put spare bullets in their Secure Containers, so their precious ammo is always safe when they die.

Players will think twice about bringing good bullets because of this. This change has probably the biggest impact on the game. However, it isn’t too bad in the hardcore wipe because everyone is technically nerfed because of the temporary trader, crafting, and loot nerfs.

What Should You Put Inside the Secure Container Instead?

Since the most frequently used items, like medical items and ammunition, are restricted in the Secure Container, what do you put inside now?

Well, some rare items still fit inside your Secure Containers, so those are always a priority, even if they sell for less now. The next would be food, but you’ll only need to put food inside until you get your Metabolism skill up.

The next would be stimulants. Propitals and Zagustins should always be inside those containers, as they should act as your emergency meds. Apart from those, you have nothing else.

You can put expensive headsets inside, even if they take four slots in your container. Hideout items should also work since you don’t need them to be FiR or Found in Raid to upgrade your hideout. Some weapon mods and maybe scopes could be the 2nd or 3rd priority.

The Secure Container nerf is pretty bad, but it should make things more chaotic, which was probably BattleState Games’ goal for this short hardcore wipe.
