We’ve had news that Pandemic’s open world destructive sequel will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PS2 in this year’s holiday season.
Previously we only knew of PS3 development, though there were a lot of murmurs about a 360 version.
“Mercenaries 2: World in Flames delivers the next evolution in explosive open world gameplay – regardless of the system you play it on,” Andrew Goldman, Pandemic Studios’s CEO stated. “All four platforms are incredible gaming machines, and from the beginning we designed an experience that accentuates their individual strengths and delivers the interactive freedom and explosive action Mercenaries fans demand.”
The first Mercenaries title came out on Xbox and PS2, its open world violence proving a hit with fans and critics alike.
The new game, set in Venezuela, is set to be a massive improvement in terms of graphics and engine and scale, as it’s designed specifically for the newer generation consoles.
In a recent Q & A with Eurogamer, Josh Resnik, Pandemic’s presitdent, said “Mercenaries 2 is built on a totally new next-gen engine that will allow our bad-ass Mercs to take the action to a level that wasn’t possible on earlier platforms.”
