Railgods of Hysterra, the upcoming co-op base-building survival action game from Troglobytes Games, rumbles toward Steam early access next month. In its brand new cinematic trailer, we see the Dreamers led by H.P. Lovecraft himself aboard the powerful RailGod as they take on the Old Ones.

Railgods of Hysterra’s Cinematic Trailer

Check out the brand new cinematic trailer for Railgods of Hysterra that sets the stage for the strategy survival title with a heavy emphasis on co-op.

As the world succumbed to the endless fury of the Old Ones, H.P. Lovecraft and his party of Dreamers form an unholy alliance with the RailGod, an ancient cosmic abomination conveniently shaped in the form of a locomotive. In the waking world, there’s a large network of railways that the RailGod utilizes for traversal, and through that, you and your party will take on threats that haunt the remaining survivors of the world.

The trailer does a pretty good job of establishing the tone and visualizing the aesthetics of the game. It’s a fun premise, and we don’t see a lot of survival games with an active component that the players need to bring along and maintain.

As you venture through the world, you’ll encounter plenty of threats along the way. You’ll make stops, scavenge for supplies, craft tools and weapons, unlock dark arts to use, and ultimately improve your fortress on the rails. These upgrades will allow you to add more carts, each serving different purposes like storage, loot, and workbenches.

Railgods of Hysterra Release Date

Railgods of Hysterra is coming to PC via Steam in early access on May 7, 2025. If you’re interested in trying out the title before that, the demo is still available on Steam.

The developers confirmed on Steam that they aim to keep the game in early access for six months to a year and will release major updates throughout, but that can change depending on player feedback and development. The early access build has all the core gameplay systems, and those will be expanded upon as new updates come out.

This is prime time to provide feedback if you’re interested in the game, and I’m excited to see how it compares to other survival titles.
