Well before we had Bioshock and Dead Space, there was another game that defined what horror could be like in video games – System Shock. This 1994 classic definitely left an impact on our nerves, and now it could be coming back.

Nightdive Studios, which did a bang-up job bringing Turok: Dinosaur Hunter back to Steam earlier this year, has announced that it has launched a Kickstarter for a HD remake of the original System Shock. It’s looking to raise $900,000 to fund the game, although it’s already halfway over that mark with $525,000 and counting.

In addition, Nightdive has also released a demo for everyone to try out, to get an idea of what it’s doing with the remake. Check it out on Steam, GOG.com and Humble Bundle, and get ready to be scared.

If successfully funded (which it should be), System Shock is expected to release in December 2017 – just in time for Christmas!
