Assassin’s Creed Unity – Top 5 Assassination Tips

Five essential tips that will help you assassinate any target in any situation.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Assassin’s Creed Unity has a lot of fun things to do, and sitting high above the rest at the top of that list is completing the assassination memories scattered throughout the campaign. If you’ve checked out our Assassin’s Creed Unity Walkthrough, the chances are you already know how challenging these can be. With that in mind, we decided to go one step beyond step by step instructions, giving you some non memory specific tips to help you take out your target and escape into the night.

5. Survey the Situation – Eagle Vision

Each time you start an assassination, you’ll find yourself in a safe location, usually perched on top of a roof or beam high above the street. From here you should get a few hints as to how you can approach your target, and taking note of vulnerabilities is key. As is the case with Sequence 3 – Memory 2: Confession, using Eagle Vision from your starting location may provide you with infiltration or assassination opportunities. By taking advantage of these, you’re typically opening up a path of less resistance.

4. Complete Optional Objectives

Running into the middle of dozens of enemies and fighting in close quarters is typically an option, although we can really say it’s a good option. Assassin’s Creed Unity is not your every day hack and slash game, and fighting several foes is a great way to get sent back to the memory starting point. Instead, try to identify and complete optional objectives, such as Steal the Key and Open the Cell from Sequence 11 – Memory 2: Rise of the Assassin. These will often give you a golden opportunity to take out your target, and very rarely do they require you to fight dozens of angry foes.

3. Try Blending with the Crowd

Many of the assassinations in Assassin’s Creed Unity will take place in very public locations. After all, what fun would it be if all your targets were tucked away in their beds where you face no risk? Because you’ll have to deal with large crowds, it’s imperative that you learn to blend in with the people of Paris. To do this, simply walk (not run or jump) among them. When you see a circle surrounding Arno, that’s your indication that he’s blending in and typically safe from angry eyes. A perfect example of how this can be useful is from the beginning of Sequence 10 – Memory 1: A Dinner Engagement.

2. Utilize Berserker Blades

Simply put, we found these to be even more useful than the highly regarded Phantom Blades. The Berserker Blades are used to drive your enemies insane, causing them to attack their allies. See that group of Extremists (low level bad guys) standing with the Seeker (high level evil doer)? Shoot the Seeker with a Berserker Blade, then watch him slaughter all his friends. It works as a distraction as well as a way to clear a room. If that wasn’t enough, the infected foe will eventually die, even after he’s killed all of his buddies. This tactic can be used effectively on almost any memory.

1. Sit Tight and Be Patient

When you know exactly what you’re doing, some of these assassinations can be completed in just a few minutes, but when you’re just starting out they can take up to an hour. Take Sequence 9 – Memory 2: Hoarders as an example. We spent at least five or six minutes just watching Marie Levesque circle the room until we went for the kill. We studied her every move, including which direction she would be looking at the time of our attack. It might take you a little bit longer, but the satisfaction from pulling off the perfect assassination is undeniable.
