5 Exciting Reasons to Play The Crew

There is nothing quite like the open road, and in video games, the best mainstream representation of that is Grand Theft Auto 5. Driving from the simple streets of Paleto Bay to the bright lights of Los Santos is one heck of a road trip.

With The Crew, an upcoming open world racing game from Ivory Tower and Ubisoft, those road trips will reach all-new heights. With a map that, as Aisha Tyler put it, stretches from sea to shining sea, players will be able to enjoy next-generation racing using the entirety of the United States. While that was enough to sell us on the game, here are five more exciting reasons in case you aren’t convinced.

Her Name is Eleanor

Almost everyone has a dream car that is well beyond their price range, and driving it might only be possible in digital form. With The Crew, real life manufactures and vehicles are included for players to experience. Whether it’s the Lamborghini Aventador or the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, gamers will be able to get behind the wheel of some of history’s most iconic rides.

Pimp My Ride

Not only will there be a batch of real life vehicles and manufactures to choose from, but The Crew will also feature up to six different Tuning Specs to really make a vehicle your own. Players can opt to go with a blank canvas in the form of the Full Stock version, or the ridiculously powerful Performance specifications. Either way, there’s enough to choose from that even Jay Leno would be impressed.

Your Mission, if You Choose to Accept it

With a gigantic map and a butt load of cars, The Crew could almost be a game without missions and still be worth every penny. Lucky for all of us, the fine folks at Ivory Towers and Ubisoft Reflections are embracing the term go big or go home. Whether it’s Go To, Collect, Getaway, Follow, Takedown, Outrun or Race, there should be more than 20 hours of missions included. No big deal, we didn’t need to go to work in November anyway.

Dude’s Got Skills

If all those missions weren’t enough, scattered throughout the United States are different types of challenges called Skills. They include Climb, Escape, Follow, Jump, Precision, Scramble, Slalom and Speed, and are triggered randomly as you pass through them while out and about. The cool part is that if you aren’t happy with your first try, you can return in a different vehicle, using different specifications and show your old self who the boss really is.

Should We Take Your Car, or Mine?

The game is called The Crew, and as you would imagine, you don’t have to drive alone. Players will be able to team up with their closest friends and tour around, taking the full 90 minute trek from coast to coast. Or they could tackle the game’s campaign or co-op missions together. The vehicle combinations are mind boggling, the missions and min-games are many and on November 11, 2014, the possibilities in The Crew will be endless.
