After months of waiting, multiple betas, and character reveals, Marvel Rivals is nearly upon us. The free-to-play hero shooter from NetEase Games launches in just a few days with a massive roster of 33 characters available at launch. To make sure players are ready to crash the servers at launch, Marvel Rivals preload starts very soon, and here is everything you need to know about it.
Marvel Rivals Preload Date and Time
The preload for Marvel Rivals starts at 4 pm PT on December 4, 2024, for PC players only. NetEase Games has confirmed that console players will have to wait for the release date to initiate the download.
Marvel Rivals Release Date
Marvel Rivals is coming to PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5 on December 6, 2024, at 00:00 UTC.
You can check when it launches in your time zone at the following link. You can keep an eye on the countdown till release on the official website.
Marvel Rivals File Size
According to the system requirements, Marvel Rivals requires around 70 GB of free space to install on PC. While the betas were in the 30 GB range, we’re expecting the full release to be of a higher size overall. Similarly, the preload should be closer to the final release’s overall size. Here are the complete system requirements for the PC version:
Minimum | Recommended | |
---|---|---|
OS | Windows 10 64-bit (1909 or newer) | Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X |
CPU | Intel Core i5-6600K AMD Ryzen 5 1600X | Intel Core i5-10400 AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 AMD RX 580 Intel Arc A380 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Super) AMD RX 5700-XT Intel Arc A750 |
DirectX 12 | Version 12 | Version 12 |
Storage | 70 GB SSD | 70 GB SSD |
We highly recommend installing the title on an SSD as modern PC releases highly benefit from it. Marvel Rivals is developed on Unreal Engine 5, which means we’re expecting performance and stability issues at launch.
The previous betas had various frame rate issues, and we don’t expect this to perform well on lower-end hardware. We hope that the full release is more polished in this regard because other competitors in the genre like Overwatch 2 scale well for lower hardware as well.
Apart from performance issues, things are looking up for Marvel Rivals as it launches with a massive roster and a host of features we’ve come to expect from hero-shooters. It comes with crossplay support between platforms at launch, but PC players won’t be matched with console players in the competitive mode.
Marvel Rivals isn’t the only title you’ll be able to preload soon; Infinity Nikki is set to release a day earlier on PC, consoles, and mobile.
