It’s early, but Activision may have won E3 2014 with its nine-minute gameplay trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. After watching it and freaking out, November 4th seems agonizingly distant. Let’s put it this way: winter 2014 sucked on the U.S. east coast, but we’d gladly fast forward to the fall just to play the final version of this incredible looking video game.
Advanced Warfare’s tagline, Power Changes Everything, is on full display in the demo, as a squad of marines drop into war torn Seoul, South Korea to battle unknown bad guys. Soldiers descend from great heights without taking damage, thanks to high tech gear that reduces quick descents. They attack enemies using supersonic shotguns, and they throw grenades that display rival locations, perhaps using their heat signatures. Throw in a giant spider tank (all the rage these days in video games), and you have one extremely intense demo that shows us a brief glimpse of where this billion dollar franchise is headed.
