Amplitude Returns With New KickStarter Program

Harmonix wants to bring the enjoyable music/rhythm game for a new generation.

In the early 2000’s, long before The Beatles Rock Band and Dance Central 3, we were playing Harmonix’s Amplitude, a music/rhythm game for PlayStation 2 where you filled in music tracks by hitting icons on separate fields. The game turned out to be a tremendous hit with Harmonix fans, even after Sony shut down the online servers for it a few years ago.

Now, Harmonix wants to bring those good times back. The developer has kicked off a new KickStarter campaign to raise funds for a new Amplitude game, one that would release for PlayStation 3 and 4. As you can see in the trailer below, the team has a few ideas in mind.

As with any KickStarter campaign, there are various rewards available, including a tour of Harmonix Studios, a party at your house with Harmonix folks (hey, John Drake, get away from our cheese dip!) and a digital copy of the game, among others. If funded (which it should be – it’s currently at $56,000 and climbing), the game should release in early 2015.

If you’re a fan of music/rhythm games, a return of Amplitude would definitely hit the spot for you. Learn more about the KickStarter campaign here.
