How to Increase Tolerance in Metaphor ReFantazio

Listening to Zorba talk about Louis should've maxed it already.

Increasing your Tolerance might seem simple at the start of your playthrough in Metaphor: ReFantazio. When Royal Virtues get introduced to you, the closest NPC to you in the Grand Trad is a Masked Man who will increase your Tolerance when you listen to him. However, you might reach a point where you can’t find ways to increase your Tolerance anymore because you keep traveling to different places. Luckily, there are multiple methods to increase your Tolerance in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and here’s every single one of them.

Listen to talks from mysterious figures

There are several NPCs scattered around the major areas that preach or talk about something, and if you listen to them, you’ll increase your Tolerance. The first NPC is the Masked Man in the Sunshade Row in Grand Trad, which will talk to you about the Sanctism religion. Each NPC voices about something negative, and it increases your Tolerance when you listen to them throughout.

You’ll also see a Masked Woman in Thoroughfare Square in Martira, a Man with Cow in Martira, a Masked Woman in Port Brilehaven, an Earnest Youth in Port Brilehaven, a Maskless Mustari and an Activist Woman in Altabury Heights as you unlock all these locations throughout the story.

Helping cook in the Inn

Spending your free time helping cook in the inn will give you more Tolerance. In this method, you’ll have to answer some dialogue and choose the cooking step to cook a certain recipe. If you answer incorrectly, you only get two points, but if you answer correctly, you get three points.

Reading books in the Gauntlet Runner

Once you reach the traveling portion of the story, you’ll start exploring the world on your Gauntlet Runner. In the Gauntlet Runner, you’ll have some free time while traveling. You can spend that free time with other followers or read a book on the bookshelf. The books you are looking for are Bygone Days and How to Walk Outside the Island. Reading any of these books will increase your Tolerance.

Quests that reward Tolerance

There are a few quests in the game that reward Royal Virtue points along with other items. The earliest quest that gives you Tolerance as a reward is the Pagan’s Dilemma quest in Sunshade Row from Mustari Man. It only requires you to purchase medicine at the church in Sunlumeo Street and bring it back. It doesn’t even pass the time, so this is basically a free Royal Virtue point without sacrificing anything apart from Reeves. Time is valuable, so you should do this before the deadline.

Other quests are also included later in the story, such as Efflorescent Youth in Port Brilehaven and Warmth in Winter in Altabury Heights.

There are also some quests tied to increasing your bond with certain characters, and it’ll increase your Tolerance when you finish them or reach the required bond level. It is the same as the Foreword and Prologue quest that’ll increase your Imagination if you get your Healer archetype to level 10, but in this case, it is about a follower.
