The world of Embervale is vast, full of secrets, and takes hundreds of hours to explore fully. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by everything that lies before you in Enshrouded, you wouldn’t be the only one. Thankfully, we have amassed hundreds of hours in the game and are here to help. Here are ten advanced Enshrouded tips we wish we had known sooner.
10 Best Trips and Tricks for Enshrouded
1) Unlock Double Jump ASAP
Exploration is key in Enshrouded, and one simple skill makes it that much easier. Double Jump is one of the earliest skills you can unlock on the skill tree but is hands-down one of the most essential. Double Jump allows you to perform a second jump right after your first. Not only is this extremely helpful while climbing and exploring the world, but it’s also great in combat and allows you to dodge certain attacks.
2) Craft Your Exploration Tools
Countless hours of your Enshrouded playthrough will be spent exploring and carving a path from one place to the next. Since exploration is such a huge part of the game, you are going to want to get your hands on the exploration tools as soon as possible.
The Grapple Hook is an essential exploration tool that will let you access areas that are potentially impossible to reach without it. The Glider is another item you should set your sights on. It’s an excellent quality-of-life tool that allows you to cover great distances in a short amount of time.
3) Upgrade Your Tools
Upgrading your tools might sound like an obvious tip, but unlike other games where you are forced to craft more advanced tools to mine advanced materials, Enshrouded isn’t like that. You can mine even the toughest of minerals with the most basic pickaxe, which makes it tempting to stick with the basics for your whole adventure.
Having more advanced tools, however, allows you to harvest far more materials at a much faster rate than you would with the basic version. That means you can spend less time foraging and more time on the fun stuff.
4) Take Advantage of the Rested Buff
The Rested Buff in Enshrouded boosts your Stamina and Stamina regen so you can sprint, jump, land heavy hits, and generally exist much easier. The Rested Buff is very easy to get, too. All you need is a nice, cozy place to rest up.
The main influences that will boost your Rested Buff are warmth, shelter, and comfort. You can tick all these boxes by having a roof over your head, building a fire, whether that be your Flame Altar fire or a dedicated campfire, and adding some furniture to make your space more comfortable. You can boost your Rested Buff even further by playing music before setting off on your next adventure.
5) Pick a Specialty
There are no rules to the skill tree in Enshrouded, and you are not limited to any certain build type. Any skill is fair game. The tree does have branches, however, and it will help you significantly to focus on a certain specialty. At some point, it’s a good idea to think about how you play the game and engage in combat.
Do you prefer a bow and arrow? Focus on the Ranger branch. Are you a magic user? Set off down the Wizard or Healer branches. Focusing on a certain build allows you to become a master of one skill rather than a master of none.
6) Chest Farming
Chest farming is the best way to make your character stronger in Enshrouded. While the skill tree helps with certain abilities and talents, it’s your weapons and armor that determine your strength and defense. Weapons and armor can be found hidden in chests all over Embervale.
Chests regenerate each time you load the game, so setting up shop next to a particularly good one gives you easy access to an infinite source of weapons and armor.
7) Craft One of Everything
Crafting is another massive facet of Enshrouded. Creating different things is not just helpful when building a cozy home or brewing potions, but it is essential for making new weapons and gear or even upgrading your Flame Altar.
Some recipes can only be unlocked by crafting others, so make sure you craft everything at least once. Only then will you be able to unlock all crafting recipes.
8) Mark Areas of Interest on Your Map
There are many secrets to uncover in Enshrouded. So many, in fact, that it can be hard to keep track of them. Getting in the habit of placing a marker on your map to represent any particularly affluent sources of ore or plants can help save a lot of foraging time in the long run.
It’s also extremely easy. Simply open your map, right-click where you want to place your marker and select Create Marker. From there, you can choose different colors and symbols to help you identify your markers later on.
9) Blast Your Way Through Any Obstacle
Many dungeons in Enshrouded involve finding hidden buttons or something similar to unlock doors so you can proceed. But there are no real obstacles in Enshrouded. As long as you have a pickaxe or bombs in your bag, you can blast your way through anything.
Brute forcing your way through walls or even entire mountains in Enshrouded can make traversal even easier, so you don’t have to spend so much time finding the long way around.
10) Don’t Forget Your Lockpicks!
Lockpicks are one of the most valuable items in Enshrouded. They can grant you access to chests or rooms full of loot you wouldn’t otherwise be able to reach. Lockpicks are made using Metal Scraps, which are plentiful if you know where to look but can be difficult to find on the fly.
The Lockpick recipe requires double the amount of Metal Scraps when you craft one away from your base. Remembering to bring a stash of Lockpicks with you not only grants you access to locked chests but also saves your precious Metal Scraps.
