Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Gimmighoul Raids and Special Mass Outbreaks to Celebrate Worlds 2024

In anticipation of the upcoming 2024 World Championships, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will host a special event featuring Gimmighoul raids and special Mass Outbreaks.

Special Gimmighoul Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The main stars of this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet event are the Gimmighoul Tera Raid Battles. Chest Form Gimmighoul will appear in special 1- to 5-star Tera Raid Battles. What makes these raids so extraordinary is that the Gimmighoul encountered in 5-star raids have a very rare chance to be shiny, compared to the Gimmighoul found normally across Paldea that can never be shiny.

Unfortunately, there are a few elements of this event that aren’t so exciting. First is how event Tera Raid Battles are indicated on the map. There will be a faint glow and sparkle around their icon to help them stand out from regular Tera Raid Battles. However, you won’t be able to tell the raid’s rank until you interact with its crystal on the overworld. Make sure you inspect each event crystal every day to ensure you don’t accidentally skip over a 5-star.

Second is that shiny raid Pokemon don’t display the signature sparkle animation at the start of the battle. This is particularly bad since shiny Gimmighoul is almost indistinguishable from its normal coloration, especially with all the special lighting effects going on during a Tera Raid Battle. If you’re planning on tackling these raids, stock up on Poke Balls so you can catch every Gimmighoul and not worry that you may have accidentally let a shiny get away.

Gimmighoul isn’t very strong, even in a 5-star raid, so just bring a Pokemon at Level 75 or higher that can target its Tera Type weakness, and you should win easily with a party of four real players. Play online as often as possible, so if you’re lucky enough to encounter a shiny Gimmighoul, up to three other players can share in that same fortune.

Special Mass Outbreaks in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

During the event, there will be special Mass Outbreaks across the regions of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The following table lists the Mass Outbreaks and where they can be found.

In these Mass Outbreaks, Pokemon have a higher chance of being shiny and having the Pumped-Up Mark. These Mass Outbreaks will shimmer slightly on the map to help differentiate them from typical outbreaks.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Worlds 2024 Event Date and Time

This event will take place from Thursday, August 8 at 8:00 P.M. to Thursday, August 22 at 7:59 P.M. (Eastern Time). Make sure you have the latest game update and connect to the internet in-game to activate the latest special Tera Raid Battles and Mass Outbreaks.
