Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma Pokemon Fusion Debut

Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma, fusions between Necrozma and Solgaleo or Lunala, respectively, will make their Pokemon GO debut starting with the Pokemon GO Fest 2024 in-person locations (Sendai, Madrid, and New York City) followed by the global event.

How Does Pokemon Fusion Work in Pokemon GO?

Necrozma can fuse with Solgaleo to become Dusk Mane Necrozma, or with Lunala to become Dawn Wings Necrozma. When the Pokemon are fused together, the chosen Solgaleo or Lunala become unavailable for use until the Pokemon are separated. The good news about this is that Necrozma stays in its fused form indefinitely; it doesn’t have a time limit like Mega Evolution or Primal Reversion. The Trainer has to choose when to separate the Pokemon, and can do so at any time, free of cost.

This also means that fusing Necrozma with either Solgaleo or Lunala has a cost of its own beyond absorbing one of the Pokemon. In order to fuse Necrozma, players will need to use up:

  • 30 Necrozma Candy,
  • 30 Cosmog Candy,
  • And 1000 Solar Fusion Energy (when fusing Solgaleo to make Dusk Mane Necrozma) OR 1000 Lunar Fusion Energy (when fusing Lunala to make Dawn Wings Necrozma).

Fused Necrozma’s Moves, Stats, and Shininess

Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma will retain the appraised stats and shininess of the base Necrozma. The stats and shininess of the Solgaleo or Lunana won’t have any effect on the resulting fused Necrozma. For example, a shiny two-star appraised Necrozma fused with a non-shiny “perfect” Solgaleo will result in a shiny two-star Dusk Mane Necrozma. A non-shiny “perfect” Necrozma fused with a shiny two-star appraised Lunala will result in a non-shiny “perfect” Dawn Wings Necrozma.

When Necrozma fuses with Solgaleo into Dusk Mane form, it will learn the Charged Attack Sunsteel Strike. When Necrozma fuses with Lunala into Dawn Wings form, it will know the Charged Attack Moongeist Beam.

How to Obtain Necrozma in Pokemon GO

Necrozma will make its Pokemon GO debut in five-star raids throughout the in-person Pokemon GO Fest 2024 event (May 30 to June 2 in Sendai, Japan; June 14 to 16 in Madrid, Spain; and July 5 to 7 in New York City, USA). Shiny Necrozma has a chance to appear for all players starting in the Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global event (July 13 and 14).

Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma will appear in raids on Day 2 of Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global (July 14). Players can encounter and try to catch Necrozma (which has a chance of being shiny) if they can defeat one of these raids.

How to Obtain Solar Fusion Energy and Lunar Fusion Energy in Pokemon GO

Players with an active Pokemon GO Fest 2024 ticket will have access to a Special Research with a branching quest choice. Based on their choice, they’ll be able to earn enough Solar Fusion Energy or Lunar Fusion Energy to fuse Necrozma once.

All players will be able to earn Solar Fusion Energy from defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma raids, and Lunar Fusion Energy from Dawn Wings Necrozma raids. These raids will take place on July 14, the second day of Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global.

How to Obtain Cosmog, Solgaleo, and Lunala in Pokemon GO

You have Necrozma, you have Solar or Lunar Fusion Energy—all that’s left is either Solgaleo or Lunala. There have been Special Research granting encounters with Cosmog (Solgaleo and Lunala’s pre-evolution) in the past. If you missed out on them, not to worry: on July 14, Day 2 of Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global, there will be a free Special Research story available that includes an encounter with Cosmog. This free Special Research is available to all players, not just those who have an event ticket.

Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem through the use of 25 Cosmog Candy. Cosmoem evolves with 100 Cosmog Candy into either Solgaleo during the daytime, or Lunala at night.

Players will an event ticket will want to keep an eye out since their Special Research will include an encounter with either Solgaleo or Lunala, based on the branching quest choice they make.

If you want to pick up extra Cosmog Candy to fuse your Necrozma, or to evolve your Cosmoem, be sure to take part in some Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings Necrozma raids. In addition to the usual rewards, an encounter with Necrozma, and either Solar or Lunar Fusion Energy, these raids also provide Cosmog Candy upon completion.
